Bendtner "block"

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

On Sunday Jammie Redknobb, Rudd Guillet and Andy Very Grey were saying that Barry should of 'professionaly' blocked off Nasri for our 1st goal.

So can somebody tell me the difference with that and last nights goal?
Apart from it being an Arsenal player :banghead:

No difference whatsoever. But you are relying on the ref's interpretation if you do it. It's a risky thing to do but it is common in the game and always has been. No idea why Slysports are losing their mind over it...

I wasn't even sure that Bendtner done it on purpose.

With regards to Sky Sports, just remember they have to use anything they possibly can to fill their non-stop 24 hour bullshit news service. They will over-dramatise anything in an attempt to make it newsworthy, usually pulling out an expert such as Barry Fry to comment.

Don't get wound up by Sky, just watch the football and ignore the dicks they employ.

Strange there seemed to be a big inquest into this incident and yet the cyncial pull back on Bendtner in the first half when Theo raced through and was all set to square it for 1-0 seems to have been forgotten.....

Strange that alright... Not much mention of Smith and Barton continuously fouling either... personally don't give a fuck, but it does irritate me when Slysports go on one of their little crusades against us but fail to look at the oppo's antics... I know I shouldn't let it bug me, but sometimes it just does...

at least on the league cup show they highlighted how bentner's block was no worse than the one on him in the first half.
didn't show barton being a foreskin though

Nic B clearly committed obstruction. It wasn't given but it should have been.

Other decisions should have gone our way and other decisions will go against us in the future.

Why are we being as bad a SSN by keeping attention on the subject? :banghead:

Well there is really. Blocking and Impeding.

You can block the run either by not ball watching and moving with the play so that the ball couldn't be returned back to Nasri. (blocking the pass)

Also by standing in his way would technically impede his run onto the ball.
This you'd have to be careful of as not committing a foul but as its physical strength (body to body) I'd doubt any ref would give a pen for it.

Had Barry pushed, tugged or tripped Nasri as the return ball was played he would have impeded (fouled).

Bentdner would have looked better had he run with the defender and blocked the run by making it difficult to get around him.

Wiliamson see what Bendtner was trying to do and forearm smashed him and hit the deck. Nicky B was being sneaky but williamson was close to GBH with that smash.

If the ref does nothing with the block on Bendtner 1st half he can do nothing about that one.

Also, was Barry not already booked before Nasri mugged him? In which case he would have put them down to 9?
