Arsene's obsession

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Welcome SA Gooner.

Being a rugby fan as well as a football one, I'd love to travel over there when I finish school, get a job and have some money of my own. :lol: Be good to see the Waratahs play S14. And then I'd do some diving in the lovely waters you have over there. :lol:

Okay...the lingo....

And these are what I think would be the most common ones:

Spurs = Spuds

Liverpool = Scousers

Chelsea = Chel$ki

Seems as if Panto's been at some of the bad shit, I'm afraid. Maybe you could take him under your wing, IHH?
Seeing as you are the font of knowledge on this :lol: any idea what Wengers balance is?
Wenger's in/out transfer balance in the 10yrs since he took over up until shortly after the beginning of this season ie after the summer 2007 window closed was thought to stand at around -30M and if you factor in that we have just made over 3M on Diarra then his total net outlay is certainly now under 30M, and considering that most of that was wasted in his early years in a futile attempt at recruiting some English talent, so a few more years could actually see him in the black :shock:

But, getting back to the original thread when I saw the title I had a sneaky suspicion that it was goin to concern Le Boss's preference for bargain basement shopping and Goonana's thoughts have crossed my mind once or twice, cos we all know AW loves a challenge, and it would certainly be nice if he spashed out now and again, which I don't think he's afraid to do if he sees something special in a player :P

The problem is I don't think we are quite at the stage financially were we can get into bidding wars with other superclubs foreign or domestic, if we are still losing out on the likes of Ribery in the summer or maybe even next summer then we can have cause for complaint :evil:

Nah, as much as admire parts of other countries in some regards, I don't think I'd swap Sydney for anywhere else.

Cool.

Worst thing about being a gooner out here is that I have a sleeping pattern of an insomniac. :lol:

gonna watch some NRL matches as i am a bit of an egg chaser at heart being a northerner and all.

Well apart from the bridge etc...catch a ferry across the harbour to a place called Watson's Bay, and then have a look at the Gap. Nice views off the edge of cliffs out to sea, and while you're there there's some nice seafood restaraunts right on the bay.

I can probably come up with more lol, but it'd take a bit. Let us know sometime before you go if ya want a bit more info.

NRL matches: The only team you need to watch are Parramatta. :D For yet another year, I'm gonna say that this will be our year. :D

Tigers aren't bad, I respect them. Lucky you didn't say Bulldogs. :lol:

Yeah Parra signed Fa'aoso but from memory he only played once for us...maybe he'll get more of a run this year. Alongside Fui-Fui Moi-Moi he should be good. :D Wouldn't it be nice to have a big Tongan play for Arsenal against the likes of Bolton just to rough them up for a bit at the start of a match. :wink:

State of Origin should be great, I've only been to one match a few years ago, but up in QLD the atmosphere is supposed to be even better. I suppose you'll be wearing maroon... :x

depends on the weather but i may buy a GLD scarf.

i thought i heard richie had signed for penrith, not sur ei f true. i know every club in england wants fui fui moi moi.

richie is a very good player just needs to be in the right environment and coached properly as he can be very lazy and he loves the ale.

what is brent Sherwin like? we have signed him this season ans he is our biggest earner.

Sherwin WAS a brilliant player a few seasons back. But injury really stopped his development. 2007 he got himself into the bulldogs team though, and he was starting to find confidence again. Should be good over there.

He might have signed for Penrith, Parra signed Joe Galavao from Penrith for this season so there may have been some kind of swap.

Moi Moi is a great player. He plays like he doesn't feel a thing, just charges at player, gets hit and gets right back up again smiling.

Being a Parra fan, and him being a Parra player, I probably see things a bit differently. Then again, when he plays for us he sometimes doesn't get more than 30 mins a game so he plays hard in the time he's out there.
