As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I'm stealing this theme from another thread, sorry What was everyone's first away game? and who can claim the earliest one? I'm entering the competition with the scum away, Nov 1972. Now where's that old boy emoticon when you need it
My first Away game was Sevilla back in November but i have been Cardiff 3 times to see Arsenal in cup finals (not sure if they count though) Going Shite Hart Lane Tuesday aswell
Either Luton Town or Enfield Town in the pre season friendies of 1998/99 otherwise Sheffield Wednesday when Di Canio pushed the ref over lost 1-0 i remember shouting out stand up if you hate george graham for going to Spurs & praiseing Alex Manninger & also booing Vivas to come to mind Rangers lost to Celtic that day as well
WEST HAM AWAY AT THE END OF THE SEVENTIES/BEGINNING OF THE EIGHTIES (CAN'T REMEMBER). ALTHOUGH I WAS IN THE HOME END WITH MY HAMMERS-SUPPORTING MATES, A FEW OF WHOM WERE MEMBERS OF THE ICF (SCARY DAYS INDEED! ).
IF THAT DOESN'T COUNT, IT WOULD HAVE TO BE STANDING IN THE HOLTE END FOR THE FA CUP SEMI-FINAL AGAINST MAN UTD AT VILLA PARK IN THE EARLY 80's WHICH WE LOST 2-1 AFTER LEADING 1-0. IT WAS THE FIRST AWAY MATCH OUT OF LONDON THAT I WENT UP TO ON MY OWN AND, APART FROM THE RESULT, HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE (I THINK! MY MEMORY ISN'T WHAT IT ONCE WAS ).
Middlesbrough, First game of our double winning season in 2001-2002.
Henry got the first, Pires then Bergkamp netted twice in the last ten minutes.
I was 15 and I decided that I'd try and go to every home and domestic away game that season. I still managed to miss a few mind you (usually midweek aways as I was still at school so that included the trip to Old Trafford sadly).

We both have similar memories of our first time away to wham then. Mine was about 74/75, in the wham north bank with hammers mates. I remember Johnny Radford scoring an offside goal and nearly blew my cover, not wise there in those days, scary indeed I was at that semi too, not one of my better memories, remember going mental at half time and giving it to the manc vermin on the other side of the great divide in the Holte end then having to slope off at the end The drive home after was'nt great but as I was in the back with a few cans it helped to soften the blow
JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING. I WAS ALSO AT THE 5-0 BEATING WE TOOK AT WHITE HART LANE BACK IN 1983.
MADE A LAST MINUTE DECISION TO GO (YOU COULD DO THAT IN THOSE DAYS ) WITH A COUPLE OF MY WEST HAM MATES AND ALTHOUGH THE PERFORMANCE AND RESULT WERE SHOCKING, REMEMBER THE FANTASIC ATMOSPHERE AMONG THE GOONERS THERE AND THE RUNNING STREET BATTLES AFTERWARDS.

I consider that game as my greatest footy escape Was going by car but the driver let us down at the last minute and as we did'nt have enough time to get there on the train we decided to stay where we were and continue drinking From what I heard after, from **** as well, the running street battles were the only result we got that day.
