Do you know what is atmosphere?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Stop moaning FFS.
If you love the brazilian atmosphere that much, why do you bother posting on here???

I agree 100% with you, the atmosphere is dire but hey ho at £40 a pop what do you expect? kids and wives all over the place, prawnies...
We all want a return to a proper english terrace culture and atmosphere, which is, as Henry Norris said, getting pissed early, witty songs whatever the result and for some wearing decent gear or unveiling a new pair of trainers... Don't want all those poxy flags and painted faces...

back in the day it was all about taking big numbers, getting drunk, singing an hour before the game and still supporting the players even when your 6-1 down at everton or 3-0 at fucking oxford united.

Am I right in saying that once some Internacional fans torched their players cars when they lost 5-0 to Palmeiras? that aint good support
I don't know, i didn't hear that fact ... I don't remeber Palmeiras winning 5-0 in my life, lol

Well, so sorry mate, your conception of supporting is very poor, in my opinion. But that's alright, I respect.
erm, so your saying waving a plastic flag is a better way of showing support than singing all through the game and chanting the players names as they lose 6-1?

don't get it. a flag doesn't show passion. noise does.

why did it go all seater?was it a genuine response to the hillsborough debacle?or any of the other accidents down the years? imo the taylor report was the catalst and excuse the money men needed to move in and turn the game on its head, sorry i mean modernise.we as supporters were never asked if we wanted our game totally transformed and sanitised to the extent that a huge % of supporters are like the twat from the harry enfield show ,trying to be working class and real but actually worrying about thier prawn sandwich.i,m affraid the atmosphere has gone and all the rebranding in the world wont bring it back.even the return of terracing may not work as a generation or more of supporters who drove the atmosphere have been lost.still on the bright side ive got the memories

the only way to improve the atmosphere at the grove is to get

a section for like minded people e.g. people who want to sing, behind the goal next to the away fans - the clock end (basically how it was at highbury)

I have no idea what red action really are doing
they should be making this no.1 priority
or actually improving the atmosphere
they have the only 'voice' in terms of getting things done via the club
so far they have managed to get the wonder of you played 5 mins earlier
a nice banner with flags on it
a march where everyone sings outside the ground

to me it seems there aint a culture at arsenal
i dont no if its because weve been diluted more
but there doesnt seem to be enough genuine people interested
more a load of divs who want to sing 'by far the greatest team' every 2 minutes

Agree with IHH on this one, manufactured atmosphere like you get on the continent is a load of shite. Its like how people got carried away with the 'wall of noise' made by PK Partizan Belgrade when we went there earlier in the season when in reality it was just some *word censored* with a megaphone leading a choir. Atmosphere is about more then just raw noise generated, if it was we might as well all smuggle in those saffer trumpet things.

well, maybe you're confusing somethings ...
the fact is that our culture of supporting a club is very different from what you have there in England, and in our viewpoint, yours is very poor, because there is no 'party' at all, you know what I mean?

we sing a lot in the stadiums here, and the team I support in Brasil (Corinthians) has the biggest flag in the world. Doesn't it show support?

and the fact about the 3hours: it's not true ... the fans get early to the stadium to prepare the atmosphere, and it's not all of them, just some of them, the leaders of the supporters clubs ... suspend the flags over the stadium and etc.

Manufactured atmosphere on the continent?! Sigh. What would you call that embarassment laid on by the club before the CL Semi against the mancs?

I love the "why aren't they in the pub" argument as well. They're not in the pub because they're more concerned with supporting their team than drinking beer.

Oh, and the atmosphere at Belgrade was poor by Eastern European standards. The people who were so amazed by that need to look past the sanitised dross fed to them by Sky.

Rant over. 8)

Best atmosphere at the soulless Grove since we moved.
