Travelling over to Milan

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Travelling over to Milan

Post by Block 18 row 2 »

Anyone on the 13:25 BA flight from Heathrow on the the 4th?
I'm travelling on my lonesome so would be good if I could tag along with some other gooners.

Heard a story last night from someone who went to watch the Italy v Wales game at the San Siro a few years ago. He said the Italians in the tier above them were ramming their fingers down their throats trying to make themselves chuck up all over the away fans in the lower tier.
Thankfully we'll all be in the upper tier. Right?!

a lad i work with went to the rome ac game at san siro and he said the away were in the tier we're in and he said that there is a large net infront of them to stop them throwing thigs oout of the away section.

also they spit at each other all the way up the spiral walking staircases in the four corners of the ground.

i have been there 3 times twice with arsenal

its not the most pleasent of away grounds, watch out for the batteries flying down from the tier above. they also fill little cups of piss and throw them down too.

you will be kept in at the end for an 1- 2 hours depending on how the italian police are feeling.

anywhere in italy is crap for an away supporter especially if your english. and to be honest milan is probably one of the more friendliest despite the above

have fun though

I'm really looking forward to it.... I'll be happy to do a bit of sightseeing, find a good spot for the flag, see the game and out sing the Italians. Not sure it would be the ideal place to take over a bar with a group of 50+ gooners. Difficult one as a large group might attract the attention of the Caribinieri, a small group might attract the attention of locals on scooters! Better to find a nice bar/restaurant away from the ground then get a taxi direct to the turnstile.... not somewhere that I was tempted to bring the kids....

Away supporters are now put in the top tier, just below heaven from the sound of it! So shouldn't be a problem with things thrown down.

there is not that much to sightsee really, the best thing is the cathedral its right in the center. head for the DUOMO on the underground and you wont go wrong .there is loads of bars restaurant and shopping round there.

also nearer the ground you want to get off at the LOTTO stop on the underground and find a bar round there ,its pretty safe there ,there is a good bar round there that has free food on the bar ,sandwhiches and crisps etc etc i hope you find it because its very good and they are friendly . then walk down the road to the ground (about 10 mins walk) and the away end is pretty much were you come to.

there is a milan supporters bar near the away end too which is pretty awsome but probably not a good idea for this match. i went in it v messina with my misses a year ago ,some people we met in there were really friendly and kept buying us drinks because they love fabregas so much and a couple of them had adopted arsenal as there english club as i gave an arsenal badge to there son

i hope this helps you and you have a good trip. i only wish i was going now.[/quote]
