As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

nowadays we need to be winning to enjoy football . thats me at least...
SHE WORE.....
and theres nothing wrong with that henry!!!
thats what im saying, football is so different in the modern day and i can totally see how old school fans have become disillusioned with it all.....but alot of people seem to associate the modern day arsenal as all being arsene wengers making.....football and more specifically arsenal has changed and that will remain whether arsene wenger is at the helm of our club or not

I am currently managing a block of flats (approx 90 units)
they would need over 60 votes for them to sack the gardener

Success in football is measurable by two simple things. One is the style in which a team and plays, the other is how healthy their financial affairs are. Obviously Arsenal excel at both, and pointing this out can cure the confusion felt by those outside the Arsenal family who question how successful we are.
I have faith in Wenger in bringing through young players and encouraging attractive attacking football, plus being very prudent with the financial condition of the club (probably too prudent).
But how can you have such strong support for a manager who has put out teams for the last five years which:
Have trouble with even the basics of defending.
And who himself has shown an ongoing weakness in substitutions and tactics.
The defensive situation is a structural flaw in Wenger's management and unless it is remedied we will not win the league under him again.
It disturbs me greatly, especially because when Keown was brought in a defensive coach 2005 2006, he got clear results, but has not worked for the club since.

Okay let's assume that in fact is true about Mr. Wenger being too prudent. Why has no one at the club spoken to him on this matter?
That shouldn't be too hard given that one he is an employeee of the club, and two they all meet and work together fairly regualrly certainly (at least one would expect Messers Gazidis and Wenger to)
Otherwise why would the club let the manager be too prudent unless they wanted or instructed him to be that way?
Of course they could in fact have spoken to him in which case he simply ignored the wishes of his employers at the club, which surely is insubrodination and a sackable offense on its own. So why instead of being sacked was he offered yet another extension of his contract and on improved personal financial terms? Can you explain that?
That sarcastic article is so close to the truth it's frightening!!! The thing is, whereas once we were respected and applauded by all and sundry for our style of football, now we're only laughed and scorned at for the style and plethora of excuses.
