Arjen Robben

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arjen Robben

Post by 26may1989 »

Now that the transfer window is closed, and our usual paranoia about who we're going to lose and who we're not going to sign can ease for a while, my mind has been wondering to what Le Boss might (or might not) do in the summer.

One name that crossed my mind, because (1) a winger is what we need (as well as a new goalkeeper), (2) he's very talented but hasn't done very well at Real and (3) we now appear to like signing Chelsea cast-offs almost as much as they like signing ex-Arsenal players, is Arjen Robben.

His attitude is one big issue (what is it about the Dutch?... Other than Dennis of course). And of course, he might be happy to stay at Real.

Any thoughts?

Well with Eboue's death rolls at the hint of the slightest touch and RVP's glass body adding Robben to the squad will be economical madness!

We could never afford akll those St John's Ambluance staff each match!

Robben has plenty of talent and when he plays a run of games looks very effective. But his injury and rumoured attitude problems means he's not on the horizon.

I would not be surprised if we try to sign Charles N'zogbia from Newcastle. With the right guidance he could fill our left-sided position.

And I imagine that your question relating to Dutch footballers is rhetorical...Otherwise, read "Brilliant Orange" for an insight. I read it and still don't understand them!

And bonus points for the football-related thread 26may1989

I agree with IHH. Gingers, weddings, tits, beer, RedTube, pink cats are all welcome as topics but for football go to BBC 606

About Robben, I think he was great for Chelsea and I wouldn't mind him at Arsenal as we need a left-footed left-winger; Diaby isn’t one and Rosicky hasn't showed anything that special. He is injury-prone and dives as Gus pointed out but so are Van Persie and Eboue respectively.

I certainly couldn't do better than the rest of you with threads on pussies and tits, but I could start a cricket-related thread - just to piss off rebel, augie and the rest of our Oirsih contingent, obviously.

Have always rated Robben, hes a class player and would be a great addition to the squad

but he doesn't play for Real much? I don't follow Spanish footie that closely anymore, not sure if hes been injured or just fallen out of favour? :?

Robben is a great player, would offer something we don't have on the wing.

BUT

He falls over far too often (weak ankles maybe?) and is injured more than RVP!!!

At least he would be someone to accompany Robin on the trips back to Holland for rehabilitation.
