I don't think any sane arsenal fan wants/thinks we can spend £40-50m on one player at the moment. However if our commercial team were to get their act together we could spend that much on one player and still have plenty left over.Step wrote:If it's sensible spending then I'm happy with that.
If we ever start shelling out £40/£50M on individual players then I won't be seen at THOF again.
If Arsene manages to win the prem this year it would be a truly great achievement which would mean so much to all of us because he has not followed the moronic short term success ethos epitomised by Chelski and City.
The only possible problem is that if we did win it this year he may feel his squad is adequate. That is where I do not follow Arsene's logic.
Arsenal FC is a proper football club init for the long term.
A bit of flexibility and humility from wenger is all that's required.

If it is sustainable we can spend all we want, a la Man U before Glazer, if we are doing a Chelsea I too will not be part of that.Arsenal 1991 wrote:I don't think any sane arsenal fan wants/thinks we can spend £40-50m on one player at the moment. as long as the books balance we should be able spend large amounts on special players (or average goalkeepers) almunia will cost us our last chance of silverware, and i fully expect chelsea and manure to strenghen next year as our squad gets weaker so i rule out the pl next year

A banner that says "...Little About Defending" could hardly be deemed to be offensive by the stewards. We just need someone to place it strategically next to the "Arsene knows" oneBunting14 wrote:I don't know if the 'Arsene Knows' banner is still up but if we could put it up next to that then it would be an interesting dilema for the club.

Tell you what.. lets spend multi millions on a couple of players risk the stability of the club on the gamble that this will win us the Champions league or the prem.
I means its never plunged club into serious problems before has it!!!
We still challenge season in season out and every club envies how this club is run .(just see Jamie Carrighars comments earlier in the season about arsenal being the classic example of a proper football club and well run institution).
We have limted funds as we have no 3rd party to bank roll the club in an idiotic manor (£50M for Torres anyone??).
When we get £40M for Cesc then hopefully aresene will buy 3 players covering central defence , midfield and up front. That is sensible, realistic and within our means.
I will only be upset if the money is not spent as out debt is now manageable.
Our lack of mental stength post Birmingham has unfortunately cost us this year . We appear to be following what the media said would happen if we lost that final!!

The Group wants the Club to start spending money on quality, instred of paying extortionate wages to dross. It's really not that difficult. Modest investment in key positions (GK, Defenders, out and out striker). The Group is not suggesting an Abrramovich-style spree.
But your problem is that you've got selective eye-sight, just like your mate Wenger. You're making claims about this group that simply aren't true. If you're going to have a pop, make sure you do it properly. I don't think you've really got a leg to stand on mate.
BTW - I suggest you make up some badges with AFC, Not Plc On. You might earn some dough that way.
The one thing to remember is we are calling for fiarly sigficant spend spending for Arsenal. However much of the needed spending now could have been avoided had we spent a bit more earlier.frankbutcher wrote:Are you related to Almunia? The problem is the across-the-board failure to invest sufficiently several years running means more spending is needed to correct the problem.
The simple truth is that as some Gooners saw years earlier the option was to pay a little more now or a lot more later, and the refusal to pay a l;ittle more now is costing this club money unless we are ready to surrender our top-four placealtogether to make higher profits .
Agree seizing the banners will only call attention to them which can only help our efforts, especially as it exposes their discomfort with our message. Their unwillingness to address that message or to allow it to be expressed will lead to even more questions about it being asked more than likely.blocknineteen wrote:If pepole are seriuos about a protest and have the numbers, why would you be scared of a few stewards taking away your banner?
