WENGER "JUDGE ME IN MAY" YOUR MARKS OUT OF 10.
I agree with every point you make. And nothing going to change, all i will say picture a season playing on Thursday nights i.e. spurs.Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:Sorry Mike but how do you come to that conclusion?mrbigmike wrote:6.5/10.
No one gave us a pray to make the champions league at the start of the season.
And if someone said we were going to in the title race in August i would of laughed.
The team aint good enough, still aint, but Wenger has made water out of wine again, even with all of this seasons shocking failures.
Wenger buys them or promotes them from youth, he sorts out their huge contracts, he picks the team, he refuses to employ a decent defensive coach, he protects his players come what may and every season ends the same way.
If anything this bloody man turns wine into water - fine Chardonnay into rancid dish water!!

We should stop worrying about our obsession with Sp**s and start comparing ourselves to Man Utd - that's the level we used to be at and that's the level we should be at now.mrbigmike wrote:I agree with every point you make. Wenger might have made everyone at the Club rich but he's taking us backwards . . . . .
5/10, at the start of the season i would have taken third but as the season progressed it was clear that everyone else was so bad that the title was on with just a couple of changes. However Wenger brought in no one during the window when it was clear to everyone that we needed a player or two to take us over the top, on top of that the embarassing collapses in the second half of the season were partly due to his lack of tactical flexibilty (naivety even?) & the mentality he has instilled in this team.
Its not going to happen. we should be looking forward but....Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:We should stop worrying about our obsession with Sp**s and start comparing ourselves to Man Utd - that's the level we used to be at and that's the level we should be at now.mrbigmike wrote:I agree with every point you make. 1. Ferguson p*** all over Wenger as a manager.
2. All the teams around us are spending Big.
3. 3 champions league finals in 4 years...with gutless rubbish players were not in Man utd's class (for the time being).
4. How many titles has ferguson won??? worse thing how many has Arsene handed over on a plate.
5. The board and everyone at the club is hiding behind wenger. We dont now whats being done behind the scenes, but wenger does not set the season ticket prices does he, he just lacks that real will to win.

Nice post below from 7am Kick Off:
Wenger claimed that he was an adherent to this rule of never going back, up until last January when he signed Sol Campbell to a pay as you play contract. At first it made no sense, the boss had always maintained that he wouldn’t sign former players but on closer inspection what we saw was pressure from competing philosophies throw the “never go backâ€

I think this is about right 6.5 out of 10 when you average it out. That uis a failing grade whatever the circumstances and raises yet again the question of how wec can trust Board and ownership who just don't see it that way.Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:You could break this down into 2 categories.
1. What the Club think = 9/10.
The money continues to roll in
Fans continue to lap it up with little or no protest
New owner that doesn't seem to want to change things
Champions League qualification
Players, manager, directors are laughing all the way to the bank!
2. What most fans think = 4/10.
No trophies again
No improvement anywhere on the pitch
This years "end of season collapse" was worse than ever
Higher ticket prices next season
High chance of seeing Cesc & Nasri departing
Little chance of seeing quality new signings
More of the same to come next season
We must pressure them either to invest the money we all needs to be invested now while its all that we need to invest now whether under Arsene Wenger or a new manager.
The only, and I mean ONLY, positives to take from this season are the emergence of Jack and apparent recovery by Aaron.
So for that reason 2/10, for me.
However should Wenger be sacked in the summer I will retrospectively give this season maximum marks of 10/10 as the end will have justified the means.
And that concludes the vote from Sanderstead.

Excellent post piresistable - cant agree with it entirely but clearly a well- thought-out assessment about the reality of the situation and how complex it really is.
Two things came to mind:
First I don;'t think people are just happy to see Cesc go as much maybe as they expect him to decide to go and are trying to brace themselves for it like supporters always do - as a Seinfeld episode once labelled it - "the pre-emptive breakup" where you decide your girlfirend is about to dump you so to salvge your pride and get back at her you dump her uexpectedly and she is so shocked and hurt she decides she needs you more than ever or she loses the satisfaction of telling you she is leaving you (unless you're Geoge in which case "you're gonna need" that "hand")
But really I think most supporters given recent history expect him to want to leave to win trophies and Arsenal to oblige as they have never met a transfer profit they didn't like since 2006, and are trying to ease their pain now and tell themselves it won't hurt in the future if and when he goes this summer.
The second thing is companion to this. The piece talks about how Cesc was groomed to replace Vieira in 2006, and the difference between that situation and replacing Cesc with Jack now and the peril of that notion, but neglects to mention that I saw that while Cesc was surrounded with vastly superior talent and experience on the pitch, Arsenal still fell from second and you've heard this before, being a player or two from challenging for first then, to a badly beaten fourth and that was only assured by a rally on the ladt day, and a batch of really bad italian food (
Lasagna oh-oh...Lasagna oh-oh-oh-oh...) Why would they expect to be any different now other than maybe being a bit worse than it was then...
Maybe the Club think they can continue to get away with this - we have to show them they cannot.
