Nobody seems to have taken this seriously!

That's just ridiculous though, Percy

Now, call me a madman but surely RvP would make more sense? - he, like Wilshere, is left footed... but, also.... he's 6ft, so would be useful at defending long balls! 8)

This then frees up Vermaelen to play centre midfield with Samba and Cahill slotting in at centre back! :barscarf:

I agree that RVP could do a job there.

I also think Arshavin could do a job there too as it would take any winger half hour to circumnavigate his body circumfrence.

If Cahill AND Samba were both signed, would it mean TV would move to the left, with Squillaci and Clichy going?

I like tv5 as a player and believe he could become a great player for us but I would bot be happy with him being shafted out to left back. He is a centre back that can play left back and it is another step down the road where we have players that "can do a job" for us in secondary positions - has the concept of playing players in their rightful positions totally escaped wenger ?
Agreed!
I'm finding it more and more infuriating when I see comments off 'TV can play left back' or 'he would be a good defensive midfielder'.
Yes he might be good and most top players can, as Augie states, do-a-job in other positions. but he's a Centreback.

I like Verm, i like his attitude and the way he plays... I have no problems with him at CB he looks pretty good there and would look even better with the right partner next to him...But he has weaknesses in his game at CB most of which would not be weaknesses at DCM they would be strengths...
He has all the things necessary in his game to be a very good DCM and imo he is more suited to that position than CB, unlike FB which would be imo a far too restrictive role for him...

Alexander Milosevic (never heard of him)

source caught offside 8) :

Arsenal Want Swedish Superkid To Replace Gael Clichy

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is lining up £3.5million-rated AIK Solna defender Alexander Milosevic as a replacement for Gael Clichy.

The 19-year-old has been watched by Gunners scouts last weekend but face competition from Liverpool and Sunderland for his signature.

The move comes as Wenger prepares for life after Clichy, who looks destined to leave North London this summer.

The 25-year-old has only 12 months left on his current deal and is unlikely to sign a new contract as he goes in search of silverware.

The Frenchman is not against signing a new deal with the Gunners as he is settled in England but wants guarantees of marquee signings.

Liverpool are reportedly using director of football Damien Comolli’s links with the player to sign him but Wenger is adamant he must move abroad.

This has forced the Arsenal boss to move for left-back Milosevic but Solna’s director of football, Jens Anderson, claims many Premier League clubs are after him.

“Several clubs from England are following him,â€

I thought we needed proven quality experienced defenders regardless of nationality or price ? :? Mertesacker is a proven german international, has champs league experience, would not be pissing off to the anc for a month and would have, I would hope, that tough german mentality 8)

There are no rumours about Mertesacker joining Arsenal these days...
I don´t know how slow Samba is, but Mertesacker had his worst season and I doubt he will find his form at Arsenal, where is no defense coaching at all :banghead:

Samba failed at a trial session at Hertha BSC Berlin some years ago, did you know :?:
