Yeah, can't argue with that, Clichy is a ticking timebomb but he never used to look as bad as he does now, I think we notice it more as he's getting exposed more, Baines would have the same problem if he came and Arshavin or someone else who was slack was infront of him.

Clichy just can't play under pressure IMO, this set up brings the worst out of him, imagine if Arshavin was Park, Clichy would look like Roberto Carlos...

See I accept that arshavin is lazy but I have seen nasri amongst others play in front of clichy and left him exposed as well and more often than not theo leaves sagna badly exposed as well. Granted we have lazy *word censored* throughout the team but the system is shit too

If he comes I see him as a direct threat to Walcott and Arshavin, those two are not up to scratch so he might surprise us.

His true test will be when van Persie gets injured, will he be good enough to carry the fight then?

That's the biggest worry, either side of van Persie is not so worrying as the standard he is in competition with is not very high.
Gunnersaurus, you need to stop think of him as a striker. He's a wide player like Nasri, Arshavin & Theo.
However, yes he could play up front but only in a similar way you'd not really expect Arshavin & Theo to lead the line.

As stated in the goal.com article I posted on page... 13 or 14, he's a right-wing forward as much as he is a centre striker. And that's a huge position of weakness for us, seeing that 1. Theo sucks at it and 2. Bendtner is wasted there, plus he's gone anyway.

So Gervy fits well in theory. You tell me one other player on this team right now that could slot into RWF.

Plus I hear he had 10 assists to his goal tally last season; that could only get better on a passing team like Arsenal (?)

Boomer, I think Theo's best position is as an out-and-out striker, wouldn't you agree?

In a 442 yes.

I've said before he's due to start playing upfront more.

Although to be fair FrenchGun, that's the equivalent of being the fifth tallest person in Brazilian Gooner's family!!

Well if Wenger thinks this will get the fans onside along with Chamberlain, he is sadly mistaken.

It also means we will keep playing this shite 433 formation, and I heavily doubt this guy will track back.

He still needs to sort the defence out.....still after 3 years!

He will get most fans onside if he signs Cahill and Samba, two PL ready defenders which is what most see as our weakness, granted one or two will moan but you would still get that if he won the league.

If Gervinho has signed, it is a typical Wenger signing in that he is a player who can play in a couple of positions in attacking midfield/forward roles.

For all we know, Wenger might plan to use him wide left to replace Arshavin.

Main thing is it gives us a number of options.

He could play wide right, Nasri central and Theo left, with RvP up front.

Or Nasri could play wide right (which I think is his best position), Theo left and Gervinho central behind RvP.

Chamakh could play central too. So could Ramsey.

Another option:

Gervinho or Chamakh or Ramsey could play as second strikers in a 4-4-2.

What is important is that its one in, we can not have another year of his blind faith in this squad, one has come in early with strong rumours of more all but done.

It also looks like Cesc will stay as the club won't sell him and Barcelona won't meet the clubs valuation with Nasri perhaps joining him depending on what you believe.

If the dross are going and our best players staying then Gervinho and potentialy Cahill, Samba and Chamberlin make it a good summer and a much better looking set up for next year.

The window is just hotting up, it is plain retarded to be upset by this signing until you see what else happens, if everyone stays and the defence gets sorted then this becomes a good signing and a potential upgrade on Bendtner and Walcott.
