Ricardo Alvarez has ‘signed for Arsenal?????

If you read his comments he hasn't signed he signed. He said...
[it] would be ‘difficult’ due to Arsenal and Malaga’s interest in the highly-rated attacker.
Orrrr... if you read his comments, that's what he said "previously."

Now he's saying... "he has already signed for Arsenal."
Sorry maybe I should have been clearer.
There's several versions doing the rounds and most of which were taken out of context. I'd simply take this news with a pinch of salt.

so Err....to you too!

Don't know anything about him and he may be ok.
However, as with most foreign players it will take him a good year to get into the pace of english football and at 23 has no experience outside of Argentina.

Surely, what we need is experienced British or experienced Premier League players, not another younger type for future years.

We really are an academy for young talent, whereby once they've learned there trade they move on to winning teams.

Still, buy him cheap and at least there will be a nice big profit for the board when he does go.

 Furry muff. I think the fact the man describes Malaga (and us) as "European powerhouses" pretty much casts doubt on his credibility too. 8)

Don't think we should be comparing players to Chamakh, Wenger made clear of how little he valued him when he refused flat out to pay for him the year before.

It's clear now that he was always coming as a squad player, Gervinho, Alvarez doesn't have to be another Chamakh as he is fronting up the cash.

You're right Gunnersaurus.
The fact that Chamakh hardly got any playing time from November onwards and always got overlooked for Bendnter tells its own story.

so with the arrival of Gervinho and Alvarez does that mean Walcott will have to spend another season playing as a useless winger :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Who knows, maybe the competition for places might make him work at his game.

BT wrote:How many 'second strikers' does one team need? Nasri (for now), RVP, Arshavin, Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshere...all prefer playing the number 10/attacking midfield role. Even bloody Bendtner gets shoved on the wing & Cesc (for now) gets moved up to that role.

Gervinho also rumoured to be that kind of player. Can't we just buy a fucking out-and-out stiker or a defensive midfielder* and stop fannying about with these multi-tasking players? Its clear Robin would thrive better behind another man and having him as the main man doesnt work.

* and a central defender. And a left-back. Thanks.
We are actually short (not in the DB10/BG way) in that area.

You have an attacking midfielder that plays advance off the main midfield.
This is Cesc role, floating in between the oppositions defence and midfield.
Nasri can play there and so can AA23. Both there more natural positions.
RVP has sort of played there but more as a "second" striker as you put. He drops back like DB10 (the player) did to make space and create. This still needs a main striker upfront.

The other positions are the wide man. (Wide strikers or wingers)
Problem we have is that no-one in the squad is actually a wide front man.
yet the following have played there.

Nasri's an attacking midfielder
So is AA23 an attacking midfielder
Theo's a striker
Supposedly is NB52
Vela is a striker
Rosicky is attacking midfielder

Whether this Ricky is or not I don't know.
But we don't have a proper winger in the squad. They've all been made to "do a job".

Should have signed this guy up when he was alive.

He used to be an actor for a while. It during a game of kick about one lunch time he realised he had skills.
Arsene was apparantly a big fan of his tv work

Just checked on the ever reliable wikipedia and it states we have signed him and will annouce the signing of Gervinho in a few days, raising doubts over Walcots future.
