Frank I was gonna be snarky like you but of course if I am it's some unforgivable conduct on my part even as a reply.
So I'll try to appeal to the intelligence I know you have even if you happily shut it down when its inconvieient.
Anyway let;'s say I am wrong it's all down to Arsene Wenger and him alone. That means he should and will be sacked a new manager appointed, sufficiently reinvested as needed into the footballk team improved players brought into the squad and improved perfomance and results and silverware won again. I'll be as happy as any Gooner because that is all any of us wants really right?
But what if you're wrong, Frank? What if you're wrong Quartz? What if you're wrong, Flash?
What if not only there is no more money invested now under this or any other manager any time soon at the Board's instruction or a dividend is voted to shareholders and even less money is made available for several years so that Mr Kroenke can pay for the money he borrowed to by Arsenal when the Board sold to him knowing he would have to do that - basically exposing us to the same jeopardy Liverpool were exposed to?
What will you say? What will you do?
Hi Tony - been a while, mate.tonysaunders wrote:Martin,
I'm happy to give you the benefit of the doubt, though. With that in mind, I'd like to propose something to you; now, I know a 'USMartin board thread' sticky has been mooted and has actually been tried before, but I feel that, if you're not going to listen to any constructive ciriticism (blog, Twitter, facebook, etc.), then I'd like to suggest it again....
So, back to my thread idea. Given that I want what is best for this forum, and I don't want to commit to the idea that you're simply a WUM, what do you think about the idea? I'll set it up and I'll personally moderate it. Any silly, off-topic stuff (you know who you are!), personal attacks and insults will be deleted. If you like, you can even have a strict set of rules for the thread. It will give people who actually WANT to discuss this with you a place to do it seriously, whilst leaving people who want to talk about tits and transfers alone to do that, safe in the knowledge that their thread won't turn into a sermon about how the Hill-Woods are the spawn of Satan, and such.
This will be the last time I reach out to you. You should give this some thought. I'm sincere when I say that I don't mind taking sole responsibility for the thread. No other mods will have to waste their time on it. Of course, you don't have to go with it, and you can carry on doing what you're doing, but I'm not sure whether other mods or other forum members will be willing to be as accommodating.
If you're interested, PM me or reply on here and we can work together to set it up. If not, then that's also fine. I will then stay out of this and leave you to it.
And this is the crux of it. Your relentless defence of Arsene Wenger. Your obsession of defending Arsene Wenger at every opportunity, diverting everything to 'The Board'. Well, Im sick of it. And if you haven't guessed, pretty much everyone else is as well. You deny you are a WUM... I agree with you. I honestly think you believe in what you preach. I believe you think you are some sort of Jesus-like messiah sent here to change peoples opinions & ways. You aint no Jesus. And you are NOT going to change peoples opinions - quite the contrary.USMartin wrote:I do have to ask a question on here - why are all sorts vitriolic ad-himenm attacks of the manager or claims with little or no factual basis at all about the manager and his policies perfectly valid posts in these same threads in which posts that suggest another party mat be the problem such as mine unacceptable? Why is that?
Ah yes, throw the book at the middle manager while the master minds run off with the money scott-free. Give the generals medals form order9ing the massacres and execute the Colonel who followed their orders. I really sincerely hiope that really isn't how you think deep down.biglunn wrote:And this is the crux of it. Your relentless defence of Arsene Wenger. I'll say it once again.... I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT WHAT THE BOARD HAVE DONE. YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. But let me tell you this. Arsene Wenger was THE person that made it happen. You make out he is some kind of damsel in distress that was forced to do it... he had his opportunity not to stay at Arsenal and sign for Real Madrid (or any other big club) - but he didnt. Why? Because he would not have had total control there. Something he has at Arsenal - even more so since 2005. Something he has always wanted.
Arsene knew what he was getting into. He is the most qualified person at the club. He is the one that has lied and decieved me - an ordinary fan. He is the one that, in my eyes, got his priorities wrong. He is the one thats getting it wrong on the pitch. He is the one I point my finger at. The one that I vent my fury at. If you dont like it, politely speaking, F**K OFF.
Im an Arsenal fan. Not an Arsene fan. And by the looks of things - this ain't the place for you.
"What is very important for me is that I decide who we buy and not somebody else. I am not against money but I feel I should decide what happens on the technical front."
"It looks like managers have less of a say but I will go my way if that happened. You can buy the players who can win you the Champions League but you can't buy the trophy. If you could there would be a big queue after it."
"We now have a different policy which is very difficult to change. We have gone that way and now we must push it through, no matter what people say."
"That is not linked with money, it's more linked with our strength and capability to keep the team together."
ARSENE WENGER quotes in 'The Mirror' - 14-09-2008
‘If we find a player we need who can give something more to the team then we will do it.
‘But the problem is people want me to develop young players. They want me to develop Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott and to also buy players.
‘But the two do not go well together. You have to play players at a certain age or you lose them.’
