Oxpot-Chamberlain and Jenkinson were also desperate to join (funny how Phil Jones wasn't eh?
This is a stupid point. Jones ia lancashire lad, who wanted to stay up there. Chamberlain was wanted by United he wanted to come to us. Jenkinson is a Gooner.

Apologies Rigsby.
I assume the reason Jenkinson and Squillaci and co joined is because they are 'super class'.
Phil Jones being from Lancashire is a poor excuse for his shunning us: you can either join the league champions and a top manager, or you can competen for 4th and nothing every year.

I suppose Ashley Young also joined Man United as he's from Lancashire too eh?

No wait....

Good point 1989. Chris Smalling, London lad born and bred, playing for Fulham.

Wenger bids big money for him and offers higher wages than ManYoo.

Smalling joins United regardless. Yet some Wenger rent boy will tell you that young kids come to Arsenal for Wenger. Maybe so, but over the past four-five years, it tends to be the rubbish young kids....

This post is so smug I'm going to enjoy taking it apart.

1. United out bid us for Smalling. Plus he is nothing to do with what I was talking about, the REASONS Jenkinson and Ox joined us.
2. Were we after Ashley Young? Does my point about Jones relate anything to do with other players joining United?
3. I don't remember judging the players ability merely saying why they joined.
4. Is every player supposed to join us?
5. Its clear Jones wanted to stay up there and when a big club like United comes in for you and you're from there who are you going to go for?

Rigsby sorry didn't mean to sound smug...but you hardly 'took the post apart' now did you?

1. United did not outbid Arsenal for Smalling. Fact. Go back and check your facts, Smalling's family and father even said that Arsenal's last-ditch offer was significantly higher, and David Gill confirmed this upon his signing.

2. Granted. But the point on Ashley Young is that it's a cop-out to say that players join clubs because of geographical affiliation.

3. My point was, that you will spot a trend over the past five years: players who Want to join Arsenal are, on the whole, crap. That's why they want to come to us and not Man United, Chelsea or Real.

4. Do I really have to answer this point?

5. This point I disagree with. When Rio Ferdinand left West Ham we put in a bid, and Leeds put in a slightly higher one. Rio coulda gone on strike to force through the Arsenal move etc....but he chose to go to Leeds. Do you REALLY think the reason Jones went to ManYoo is because it's closer to home? Do you not perhaps think, it might have something to do with their superior manager, superior players, superior stadium, superior winning culture, superior youth they currently have etc?

Don't wanna argue just saying like....

A lot of youngsters join us for two reasons

1). We pay youngsters a lot more than most other PL clubs

2) they are almost guaranteed to be playing in the first team after a few months as Wenger won't buy established players at all!!

They're the only reasons why any youngster would join a continually failing team like Arsenal!!
