Szczesny - Perhaps the new Seaman

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Promising keeper but he's proved nothing yet.
And of course Seaman never fucked up, did he?

Of course he did but he was an established keeper who over a period of years proved himself to be one of the best. Chesney has a long way to go before he can be in the same class as Seaman. All that said he looks a very good keeper but lets not get carried away

Szczesny will be a world class keeper. He is still very young but by the looks of him at the end of last season and the start of this one he is a future star. Fab has no chance at geting the No.1 shirt (even though that number appears free given Almunia's gone AWOL??)
He needs a better defence in front of him, one that he can be confident in.

He definitely looks a real prospect, I still expect him to make more mistakes than an experienced keeper, but we will have to accept that as long as he learns from those mistakes.
Great save last night, although a pedantic ref could have had the kick retaken as he jumped forward about 6 feet off his line. eg Howard Webb

I like how the CC loss (not sure he was to blame) didn't hit him at all. He just shrugged and got on with it.

I felt a little silly after the save because I gave a lot of stick to Di Natale before the kick was taken. It’s something that shouldn’t be said on TV but it worked and he came to me after the game and and said ‘well done’ so I felt a little bit stupid because he’s quite a nice guy

saw him going right up to di natale before he took it, the ref looked up menacingly, thought woj was gonna get booked.

He has done it before as well. Good stuff.

Hang on... what do you mean about 'having a pop' at Chez?

After so many seasons seeing the likes of Almunia & Flappy in goal, I think fans were very worried about not having a decent keeper. Big stroke of luck for Chez that both the Waiter and Flappski got injured, otherwise Chez would have been offski. Surely you can understand fans being a bit skeptikal about Chez?

The lad has come in and immediately showed he is better that the other two. And he is getting better. Still think we need another experienced backup, but right now we need to strengthen in other areas first - CB, LB, DM.

He has some fight and aggresion about him - something that aside from Vermaalen is sorely lacking everywhere on the pitch

I think everyone has been clamouring for him to be first choice for ages.

Don't you think there might be a little difficulty teaching the kids in Human Biology classes the spelling of the new word to describe a man's love juice? :?
