Best Prem goal ever

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Shame jenkinson's goal was in pre season, that own goal was an incredible volley, he hit it so well, it went up 60ft and dipped right in the goal :barscarf: :barscarf:

When you watch it he actually places it fucking perfectly. Wonder if he had a few quid on it?
I just watched it again. He manages to just get it perfectly over Seaman's outstretched arm right into the corner. Best finish I've ever seen :D

Given the amount of money Adams and Merson were wagering back in the day, I would think a few bob went on the own goal that day. He didn't even need to pass it back to the keeper !

Try and do it sometime. I've tried it a few times indoors and out. Ain't managed it yet. Ended up on me arse twice too... One of my team mates keeps taking the piss; "You gonna try that Bergkamp thing again today, huh?" he sniggers.
i tried it a couple of times too (well quite a lot of times actually), one of them i gave that first touch, went around the defender perfectly and...

...'hey, where's the fucking ball?'

the guy said the same to me later: 'you tried that bergkamp trick again right? when are you going to admit you're not gonna make it?'

Quite easily Le Tissiers goal against Newcastle over here.

That one goal taught me just how beautiful can be and I tried to play it that way ever since.

It's like he takes it in, looks up, thinks "Hey the keepers off his line a bit there, I'm trying it" and then chips him! It was a shot!

I was rushing to get home from work and missed the beginning of Newcastle v Arsenal (I think they would have gone top with a win)
as I came through the front door I heard everyone go nuts
I ran into the front room and my dad said
"Bergkamp just scored the best goal I've ever seen"
I thought, this will be a great great goal but I bet he's exaggerating

then I saw it

think I agree with my dad. voted.

Don't tell Les Ferdinand. He maintains that it was all a big accident.

:awnker:
GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! :banghead:

That fucking idiot. Hairy Hands Keys used to bug the shit outa me with that too. Every time they showed it he'd smile that sarcastic arsehole smile of his and say "Did he mean it?"

Dicko was brilliant the day he was on with him and answered "Of course he meant it! This is Dennis Bergkamp we are talking about. He'd do stuff like that every single day in training." 8)
To me its simple, he didn't plan to do it but it was pure instinct. I think everyone that have played football at any level will remeber times when they did something and wonder how they did it afterwards...

The great man has been quoted as saying that he did indeed mean it and that he had a picture in his mind about what he was going to try to do before the ball reached him. Given the extraordinary things I had already seen Dennis Bergkamp do with a football over many years, who am I to doubt him? 8)

Regardless if by instinct or a conscious decision, Dennis intended to do what he did. There's no way you could accidentally get that touch, realize what was about to happen, turn your body and come onto the ball in enough time. Dennis' reaction was instantaneous following his first touch, knowing exactly where the ball was going to be and knowing that he'd have to go around the opposite side of the defender to get it.

Pure class, pure intention, no accident. End of.
