[quote="highburyJD"]all that really matters is top 4

missing the CL is the big issue[/quote

Going to be hard to explain away then when we fail to make the top 4.

Perhaps Arsene will claim that finishing 5th is better than a trophy.

it's ridiculous the FA/Prem/UEFA has allowed a situation were 4th is better than the Cup
but Wenger didn't make it happen

5th would be a disaster

That I do agree with, it is madness that has allowed 4th place to become more important than winning the FA Cup.

Erm correct me if Im wrong but wasnt this our problem last season where instead of finishing 3rd we ended up 4th and consequently had to play a CL qualifying tie?

Quite a big difference between 3rd and 4th methinks

my mistake
but I think they first gave 3rd direct group stage access this season rather than last...?

was pretty impressive last season coming 4th in a 2 horse race...

Edit... Oh... I can just see Walcott scoring a hat trick in the San Siro... (not even in my dreams)
whilst we're making up each others 'stances' your's is...
OK I won't go there but it involved Jayson

I want us to finish ahead of Spuds but I would instantly take 4th whoever finished above us. I also think Sperz will have a full rebuild job next season (Harry doesn't care he'll be in jail or the England job)

Walcott's hat-trick in Croatia was not only more important than Bale's consolation treble but more difficult
Inter relaxed once they had that game well won

Bale is an excellent, if slightly over-hyped, player
but if you are a forward/winger goals and assists are more than just important stats - they're your currency
I loved Hleb's style (final season) but his end product was lacking
.

How predictable.... When I made the edit, in my initial post, I was going to make the line about how Walcott would never score a hat trick at the San Siro without it, as I thought you may counter with the Walcott 'scuffed' hattie for ENGLAND v Croatia, and then I thought maybe you wouldn't be so dense to make the comparison so I then decided to add it as an edit.. but you haven't let me down mentioning it.... WE pay Walcott's wages, I don't give a flying fuck what he does for Engerrrrland, as it stands those are his only goals at international level, Bale is streets ahead of him imo, and as for Hleb, don't get me started on that waste of space.

Alex Song and Gervinho have the same amount of assists as Gareth Bale this season.

Does that make them of equal quality then?

Is that separately or combined? (it's a genuine question - not a wind up)

er - by the same token I don't give a flying fuck what Bale does for Spuds
and the TinyTotts shouldn't give a flying fuck how many consolation goals they score in lost causes

Bale's a good player - it's insane how overhyped he is

No, it's just a stat.

Alex Song and Gervinho individually have the same amount as Bale.

Wengerball please go easy on JD, he's quite thick and is clearly new to this football knowledge stuff so don't expect him to know sthg as basic as the difference between 3rd and 4th please.

Didn't you know? It's the same thing! That's why 3rd AND 4th place both get Bronze on podium in the Olympics, F1 etc...

Afonso Alves had a better goals scored record than Sammy Eto'o, David Villa and Marco Van Basten ever did in Dutch football in 2006.

More relevant to this season, Ayiegbeni Yakubu has scores more league goals than Didier Drogba, Berbatov and Hernandez.

Heidar Helguson the geriatric from QPR has scored more league goals than the entires Arsenal midfield put together.

Spuds sub Jermain Defoe has scored more away goals than Arsenal's midfield and back up attack have put togre her.

Citeh bit part player Samir Nasri has more assists in a few months than he did in two years at Arsenal. He also has more than both Song and Gervinho.

I can use stats to prove your intellectual density anytime Arsene Kiwomya
You're ridiculous.....

No doubt one of the infamous " Denilson stats were better than Alonso" brigade...

Jog on. Arsene's got your tea and biscuits ready.

Back on track......fuck sp*rs. The *word censored* will get no respect or recognition from me until such time as they finish above us. Which hasn't happened for fifteen years.

And even if they do achieve the unspeakable, I will find any excuse to not recognise them as a better team. The *word censored*.
