Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain tells former Saint: I was fully fit against Man United
Former Southampton ace Claus Lundekvam has thrown claims surrounding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's fitness against Manchester United into doubt, by alleging the Arsenal winger told him he was not tired or injured.
The Gunners starlet was taken off in the 73rd minute of the 2-1 defeat against United, just moments after he played in Robin van Persie for Arsenal's equaliser.
The decision was greeted by a chorus of boos from the 60,000 Emirates crowd, who were equally disgruntled with Wenger for opting to bring on the out-of-form Andrey Arshavin in his place.
The Gunners boss reacted angrily to press questioning of his decision after the game, saying Oxlade-Chamberlain was physically tired having been ill in midweek.
'Oxlade-Chamberlain had started to fatigue,' said Wenger.
'He had stretched his calf and he was sick in the week.
'I've been a manager for 30 years and have made 50,000 substitutions. I do not have to justify every decision I make.'
Skipper Van Persie also added in a statement on Facebook: 'Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a calf injury. We did not know that but the boss did and brought Andrey Arshavin on.'
However, claims around Oxlade-Chamberlain's fitness have now been clouded by former Southampton captain Lundekvam, who was commentating on the game for Norwegian television station TV2.
The 38-year-old was asked to call the youngster to get an explanation of the incident, and later revealed the details of the conversation.
Lundekvam claims the England under-21 told him he was fully fit, and feeling good, saying: 'He said, first and foremost, that he was super happy with his first match from the start, while he was pleased to have played well.
'I also got confirmation from Alex that he was neither tired or injured.'
An Arsenal spokesperson confirmed that Oxlade-Chamberlain is feeling no after-effects of the United game, and should be available for the FA Cup clash against Aston Villa on Sunday.
now, if this is true and we were lied to again, if the man can't even accept he made a stupid decision, then he deserves no respect.

Lundekvam about Wenger's explanation: - A lie!
TV expert called 2-Oxlade-Chamberlain and asked if he was sick or injured
In position 1-1 between the two great teams, chose Arsenal manager to take the youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of the path .
In came the Russian Andrei Arshavin - the man who slipped in the celebration as United scored the winning goal.
On television images could be seen that Arsenal striker Robbie van Persie exclaimed "no" when he saw that the man who served him an assist pass earlier in the match had to leave the court.
The change was of course also the theme in the interviews after the game, and at the press conference, explained Wenger replaced with that Oxlade-Chamberlain had been sick.
- I can understand that fans are upset over the prey, especially when it does not work, but he (Oxlade-Chamberlain) had begun to be tired, 'said Wenger continued:
- He was sick earlier this week. Arshavin is the captain of the Russian national team.
Did not complain
On TV 2's live Premier League broadcast promised Lundekvam, who has nearly 12 years as a player in Southampton behind him, to check on his old friend from the environment, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, actually was tired, sick or injured. On Twitter , he published today the response of two messages on their profile:
"I promised our viewers to call Alex Chamberlain to clear if he was injured or tired. He told me that he has not felt better. "
"As Chamberlain was either injured or exhausted. It confirms the tactical blunder of Wenger and lie in the post match interview. "
Faced AP confirms Lundekvam that he has talked with the boy on the phone, but make it clear that Arsenal player did not complain at Wenger's decisions.
- He is a very modest young man. He must not have any pepper. He would never ask questions or go out and say it was a wrong decision. He was very happy and pleased to be playing, and said that he felt he played a good match, said Lundekvam.
Frustrated
About the claim that Wenger lied about Chamberlain's condition in the interviews after the game, he has this to say:
- Yes, it was a hoax. Alex had a cold earlier this week, but it is too easy an excuse.
- Managers are frustrated after the loss and have their excuses. He also came with an honest explanation that they had made a tactical error, but it was hard to see if he took it on his mantle, or whether he put it on the players. To me it looked like he put it on Arshavin, says Helge Kvam.

Which is all well and good but when wenger and the club get the players out telling porkie pies for him/the club as well then that is unacceptable to me

we can never forget that this may be one of those cases of a mediocre ex player trying a pundit job and just found a way to slightly distort the facts to have his minutes of fame and enhance his new career...
that said, i wouldn't be slightly surprised if what he says is truth, and it makes me delighted that the ox is mature enough to accept being subbed and still make no noise about it - except for an ex colleague, who he probably thought wouldn't even release the info? or maybe the ox is a bitch for doing this on purpose to get back on wenger for subbing him?
truth is, we don't know, we never will, it's a game of interests - but after so many lies, we know what we think is more likely... three people may be lying, we don't know about two of them but one we know is a compulsive liar... now who has the bigger odds?

I remember the article about the new medical centre, one of the medics specifically mentioned that according to the 'stats' AOC is built like an Ox.
Absolutely no way was he injured, that *word censored* should have just admitted he made a mistake.
Every week he embarasses us, last week it's the ref, this week injury.. whats next FFS!

How many days have you ever worked in the game?
How dare you question his authority or his decisions. How many substitutions have you ever made?
Now please just piss off, pay your membership, buy your tickets, consume six hot dogs, purchase a sweat shop produced, corporate emblazoned replica kit and shut the fuck up

This is not really a revelation as Chamberlain was interviewed after the game and never mentioned an injury, just that he respected the Manager's decision (which is more than we did)
RVP's article in the Sun is obviously bollocks too but then bollocks and bullshit is what we've been used to for 5/6 years now

Wouldn't be the first time he has told a lie. One major reason I want Wenger gone is his actual lack of respect to the supporters...all this really annoys me, agree or not with booing but I am sorry it is the only way to get our point across in certain situations like Sunday. If we'd sat there and politely clapped nothing would have been made of it.
Wengers rapidly declining lack of respect and class towards the fans annoys me. I honestly thinks he almost sees us as an inconvenience these days. We praise the team when they play well and sing their name but when it comes down to poor results he throws a hissy fit and tell us how we have no right to judge blah blah blah.
