VILLA GAME THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I can't see us getting a result in this one as I haven't got a match ticket and it's not on tv, I reckon we will win though :barscarf:

Villa at home has been our bogey fixture in past seasons only 1 PL win at the Grove against them in 5 matches albeit we had a great comeback against them in the cup. 1-1 written all over it!

Yep, we never seem to enjoy life against them at the Grove. Last season's end of season game was as dismal as I can remember. Bent always seems to notch against us too - he's injured now though isn't he?

Worst of all, is having to endure their pathetic fans with the old "empty seats m'lord" dross (coming from a team with 10000 empty seats every week) and "shit support m'lord" etc etc. All very boring. It was brilliant when we beat them up there just before Xmas and they immediately burst into song "yer gonna win fuck all".....a sign of a little club if ever I saw one. We might even get a few "same old Arsenal, always cheating" verses if we're really lucky :banghead:

Don't forget they also sing 'Have you ever won the European Cup?'
That really aggs me....
I'm cautiously optimistic as they are only above Blackburn, the poorest Villa side for a long time.

Hopefully, after being lifted by Spurs getting thrashed at Chelski in the early KO , players and fans will be well up for it
3v0 !!!

they're whole songbook is a bunch of droning, almost unemotional ritualistic bollox. they sing the m'lord shit everywhere despite the fact that the Holte end was practically closed off because there wasn't a soul to be in it last PL game there

I think we've had some poor game at home to them in the past put I can't see them beating us, probably a draw. :banghead:

3 vital points for us!

The team has to be commited and focussed!

No worries with ´Magic´ Wenger on the bench!

I used to work in B'ham and had a lot of friends who were Villa supporters so I quite like Villa. They used to get me tickets to Villa Park and I never saw us lose (the first ever match I took the Mrs to was 4-0, Wrighty and Hartson got 2 each).
With Bent out I'd hope we're comfortable winners.

They'll play the same way they do every time they come to the Emirates. They just put 10 men behind the ball and hit us on the counter/at set pieces and it works every fucking time.

I would gladly take another 1 nil. Confidence should be high, but we can't afford to be arrogant
