THE FORUM AS IT IS NOW

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Maybe during that week those that complained will reach puberty as well - we live in hope !

"Dear Online Gooner,

I went on line today and was frankly appalled as someone was attempting to have fun and didn't resort to calling Arsene Wenger a c++t in every post

Yours,
Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells
FFS steveO he was taking the piss, I wasn't one of those who complained, I adjusted my profile so I could no longer see his posts.

This ^^^^^ x 100

Steve O, I would like to think that I have a sense of humour but this guy was taking over threads but loads of wind up crap and it was seriously pissing me off (although I didnt complain to rebs). Even now that I have blocked his profile his bulls**t still appears when others quote his posts. I have no probs with most of the positive guys on here who disagree with me and want a genuine debate but this guy was spouting crap just for reaction so no my frustration with him wasnt cos he wasnt calling wenger a c**t every 5 minutes but cos he spent his time trying to wind up genuine Gooners

Yep. What we really need are more threads slagging off Abou Diaby, calling Wenger a total c++t, and lots of private jokes between chummy posters that meet up every week

Thats the sort of stuff to get everyone excited

I honestly believe that Red Member just genuinely doesn't have a fcuking clue. Might even be female cause I find it difficult to believe that a bloke could so obviously know so little about football.

He posted on here - seen that he got reactions and loved it, and was then elevated to cult (sp?) status by a few posters. Obviously he/she enjoyed the attention and continued being out rageous just to be noticed.
Can we not just take it with a pinch of salt? For me banning him/her is waaaaaaaay OTT.

I don't have a problem with how it is now, as most of my posts didn't contain loads of swearing, bar a few, so never got moderated on that front anyway.

The issues were that certain posts always got hijacked and turned into a slanging match or just turned into an irish / gay / tennis / height / piss take between a few members who were part of that particular group and frankly after a short while it got very repetative and boring.

The difficulty is that "banter" is what makes a good forum and people who meet up and know each other will obviously have in-jokes etc, which comes across as a clique to other forum members.

Added to the fact that as a club we have been through what Arsene would call a transitional season (again !) and for quite a while the only thing to comment on here was how poor we were, how low we would finish and when should Arsene depart - that in turn has only deepened the divide between Gooners, spliting into AKB's or AMG depending on your viewpoint.

We need to find the right balance between debate (accepting that other posters opinions will differ and are still equally valid ) humour (without offensive stuff) and analysis of Arsenal's performances wihtout it deteriorating into a slanging match of player bashing / defending the club out of loyalty.

We will get there in the end but may have to take the odd wrong turn or two along the way. :D

As Run DMC so righty said............. It's Tricky

Agree 100% - talk about a proper old borefest. Lets have an in-joke that involves six people.....although that is apparently more permissable than someone liking Djourou or suggesting that Denilson should be first choice

Seriously lads ?? I dont think there has ever been an Irish clique on here so I dont think you can lump the Irish as a group in with your objections. I totally empathise with your feelings on some of the perceived cliques and/or in house jokes around here cos sometimes they can get a bit tiresome but on the other hand I think it is great that so many people from here have met up and got to know each other through here 8) I have met rebs,DB0,flash,franksav,barry,percy,mutley,chunky,goose,nick,jayson and the much missed number 5 to mention just a few and they are all sound lads and good craic to be around and I would never have known them if it wasnt for this place but I can understand how those that havent met any of the lads might feel like they are on the outside but that doesnt make it a clique or closed group and any one of you should always feel welcome to meet up with the lads on matchdays and they will make you as welcome as they made me. I know that there are many more lads on here that I look forward to meeting at a game somewhere along the line (g88ner, donaldo, steve o, quartz and lethal to name just a few)

IM bit drunk but have to say im 100% behind stevo. Ive read REDS posts they were harmless inoffensive posts where they could be considered WUM POSTS but the amount of of what i consider posters who took the bait every time was silly. The amount of guys who never have anything positive to say about the club they have purported to support is shocking.Every thing is not rosy in the arsenal garden and never will be.

Top post. Yes this place is a bit quiet at the moment but do far there hasn't been threads hijacked in the way you've described it. I for one will post a lot more in the future.
