Getting more and more convinced that Wenger has a side nearly good enough to challenge for the title but just plays it entirely wrong. To me you should be a counter attacking side, theres too many players that this style of play simply doesnt suit- Bergkamp, Henry, Pires and Ljungberg loved playing like this and it suited them, it doesnt suit this group of players

Need a solid defence to sit back and soak up a bit of pressure though.

You looked very dangerous there when Rosicky nicked it and hit them on the counter. For me, I think if you played a counter attacking style your defence (when the first choice is available anyway) would look quite good- Gibbs looks lively and can get forward with pace, Sagna is relatively solid, Kos and Vermaelen are strong and can hold teams out.
Trouble is at the minute you play the short possession game and slowly move up the field, when you lose it it means the defensive central midfielders are often out of position as they naturally have to advance forward to support the passing game. If they could stay anchored and help the defence you'd be a solid side. Then you win the ball and you have the pace of the likes of Walcott and Ox along with the passing ability of Rosicky and/ or Arteta, along with a striker who is a great finisher and is much better facing the goal than he is with his back to it (which happens too often with the short style as the killer through ball cant be played).
For the style you play now you really, imo, need technically good wingers and a Bergkamp type upfront with an Henry/ RVP and obviously you dont really have that in your armoury at the minute. You concede quite a few, but I honestly think that if you werent pushing forwards as often and instead picked your moments and destroyed teams with pace, you wouldnt concede many
First half we have been pedestrian.
Song and Ramsey are playing as if it is a practice match. Rosicky has been our best player, though I still urge Ramsey to get a grip, and come good. As for Song? Pfffftt.
If Lampard, Drogba, Cashley and Mata had started, then we might be buried by now.
All said, we cannot be any worse second half.
poor enough , we should be going at them with speed but we slow it down everytime. chelsea could have nicked a goal so we have to be carefull,we are the better side just about.
Although the back four plus Chesney are OK it need the DM(s) to be quicker thinking and needs a good out ball to set the attackers off. They take too long and too much short or sideways passing and the chance for the break is lost.

Fair point, they can be a bit ponderous and prone to losing the ball stupidly, but sign a good defensive midfielder and you'd have a side very well set up to play counter attacking football due to having RVP up front, good passers in central midfield and a lot of pace. Mind I suppose Wenger knows more about it than me, I just think its so obvious that theres a good side there if they were to try playing that way rather than trying to play the same old style that worked so well years ago and now isnt bringing rewards. To make this style work I think you'd need 4 or 5 players, to make a counter attacking side work maybe 2 or 3, time will tell I suppose
