When the final whistle went at the Hawthorns I began to feel quite optimistic about next season. The progress we made over the course of the season was immense. Yet, as soon as Neuer dived the wrong way for the final spot kick, the doom and gloom returned. We haven't heard from Wenger or Gazides since. The Chavs winning THAT trophy was the worst thing that could've happen. I was actually hoping for a positive reaction from the club. I'm looking for "if we can't beat them, join them" response. Usmanov has to be invited to splash the cash.

Until there is financial fair play domestically, (like in Germany), the self sustaining model is useless.

I don't know what age you are g88ner, but I'm 48 and I will say with confidence, that neither of us will see Arsenal lift the clge in our lifetime, I will also go as far as to say we won't see another Premiership title.

To be fair, things can change fast in football... and that's our best hope.

At the moment we're going nowhere with a conservative board and a stagnant manager. Significant change will need to happen: maybe a change of manager, a change in the boardroom, and it may also possibly depend on the success of the FFP laws. In fact, all three (or at least 2) will probably be necessary for Arsenal to be successful again.

I'm not confident these changes will happen any time soon, but I can hope.

And we have the stadium and fan base. I guess our time will come again.

The chavs winning, RVP not signing a new contract and pissing off with Holland without it being sorted and no purchases basically, without these things it doesnt make you hopeful

How do you know it hasn't been sorted?

Maybe Van Persie said he wanted to leave. If that's the case, it explains why he's been banned from talking to the media.

It also means the club will do what they did last summer; keep quiet and hold out for the best price. So yes, Nasri and Cesc all over again.

What was it that inspired that feeling in you ? Was it the crucial win at the baggies when we stole a win due to their shite keeper or was it the previous week where we got a draw against the might norwich ? Maybe it was before that when we were having a shocking run and the highlight was a home defeat against wigan

We were steeped to finish top 4 much less top 3. We are in line to lose our last remaining world class player which has been happening for the past 3 summers now. We have shown no inclination to change our transfer strategy which has crippled us for the past few seasons. We see no sign of changing our manager or the board and both of these are killing us.
Not a lot to be positive about wouldnt you say ?

Got to totally agree with Augie here, I had no feel good factor at all last season and this lack of a feel good factor was underlined when the chav *word censored* won the C.L. thanks Arsene, all your fault, they're London's first winners!!!

I was actually thinking today about Wenger's (by his own admission also) proud record about qualifying for the C.L. for so many seasons in a row, but this must always be countered by our own pretty dreadful record when we're in it, it must surely be easier to win now than it was when only the champions qualified for it, as you have more goes by virtue of qualifying for it every season... just a thought...
