Interesting about Hoillett, thought he would be a good signing for a better PL team. I guess there's been too much disarray at Liverpool (plus them now looking at Sigurdsson) and we already have a plethora of wingers who are debatably good enough for a top club, but I'm surprised Spurs or perhaps Newcastle didn't have a look (seeing as Pienaar and Obertan haven't worked out at either): would also have been fairly cheap you'd have thought. Not sure how good a signing he'd actually have been but I do remember him absolutely roasting Sagna last season at home.

Would agree with that - would much rather sign hoillet than kalou but the smart money is on wenger signing another african :( :banghead:

Chelsea want to follow up the signings of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin with a move for Arsenal duo Bacary Sagna, 29, and Theo Walcott, 23.

Who knows? As a general rule of thumb we definitely won't sign any players we're linked with unless they play for a relegation-bound team in a weak European league.

I can see Kalou going to Greece/Turkey for the money, he wouldn't add anything to our squad and although he might get a decent offer from Spurs or someone else in a big league he'll have been on big money at Chelsea that he won't even nearly match there.

Would you lot be happy if we signed

Podolski (done)
M'Vila
Giroud

And sold all the dross whilst keeping RVP? Or would you still be unsatisfied?

(I mentioned M'Vila and Giroud because they look likely to join)

Dont agree that they are likely to join and am inclined to think that they highly unlikely to sign - I think that if wenger was willing to pay the asking price for m'vila then that deal would have been done before the euro's in case the guy has a great tournament and more clubs become interested and/or the price goes up. Similarly I cannot see wenger paying anything close to the asking price for giroud - I cant remember exactly the figure being thrown about but know it was high and I might even suggest that there are better strikers available for that price (the old value in the market chesnut eh  ).

True. You do see my point though. An experienced proven prem player or potential. We have gone down that road too many times before.Signing Arteta proved the folly of what went before

I would be over the moon with that.

Won't happen though.

In what sense do they look 'likely to join'? According to Twitter M'vila was days away from signing about a month ago.

Well, according to his location, he resides in a town called malice... so I think it's safe to say he hasn't been anywhere "nice" on holiday :? .... my guess would be a town called misery
