Re: Welcome to The Arsenal, Olivier Giroud
From the little I've seen of him - youtube clips mainly, I like the look of him as a no-nonsense striker, with physicality.
He appears to be able to get all sorts of different goals, which makes him far more adaptable than say Theo, who will probably only ever score from through balls and 1 v 1's and won't get a headed goal in his lifetime.
He has a knack of getting scruffy tap- ins, follows up other strikers shots to nab rebounds, keeper spillages, and looks like he will be in the right place at the right time, unlike Bendtner drifting out to the wing etc.
If - still a big IF I realise, RVP stays then a front line of Podolski, Giroud and RVP looks quite a strike force and makes me think Theo will be the £15m makeweight, which wouldn't concern me too much.
On the other hand if RVP goes, then Giroud up top with Walcott feading off him might just be a decent little / large combination much like sid and eddie all those years ago.

Perhaps Laurel and Hardy or Morecambe and Wise might be more suitable

I seem to remember AW offering about £7-8m for a star striker from the French league by the name of Chamakh. All the clips made him look half decent. Then West Ham reportedly offered about £10m for him. Luckily for us gooners Chamakh said no to the appy ammers and came to Arsenal on a free. What a great signing he turned out to be! Lets hope that Giroud proves to be a better acquisition.

True, but Ronaldo's distant, less talented cousin has never been prolific. He signed because he was a) 'free' b) Francophone-African c) apparent childhood Gooner d) is shit

The oily-haired wastrel was always more of a link man who, apparently, was decent in the air. Giroud can definitely score but obviously the jury's out as to if he can do it for us.
People slate YouTube but it can't make a goal look any better or worse and he's scored a wide variety which is promising.
Good call from.someone about Walcott if van Persie goes and he stays, never thought about it like that in the little and large sense, would certainly be now or never for Walcott in that central role if van Persie goes.
