Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

Van Persie will complete his move to #MCFC within two weeks. Fee of around £22m. Contract worth £225k per week already agreed. #AFC
I don't understand why there is such hate on Twitter for RVP at the moment. Yeah we have stood by him through all his injuries etc. But fair play to him that statement says exactly what the majority of fans want to and are doing. I hope Gazidis squirms reading that line about himself and Wenger. Twat.
This.

I can deal with him going abroad, but seeing him in a City shirt will be too much. Fucking unbearable. These *word censored* running our club should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

Update for the fans http://robinvanpersie.com/2012/07/04/up ... -the-fans/

"As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the boss [Arsene Wenger] and Mr [Ivan] Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club's future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.

"I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days. Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don't want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal should move forward.

"I've thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.

"I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch. I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last eight years. As soon as Mr Gazidis is back from his two-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments."

From this you can tell he is speaking from the heart and as most of us thought it wasn't about 'money' but about what he thinks and feels which is in,line with what most of us think and feel...I'm angry and I'm sad...I really hoped that he might stay. He did what he could to try and wake up wenker, gazidis and the board...and he has been let down just as we have..so another glorious season ahead with no trophies and an utter *word censored* of clown as manager...still as long as the mooolah is rolling in KERRR FUCKIN CHINGGG!

SHAME ON WENKER
SHAME ON GAZIDIS
SHAME ON THE BOARD.

ALL A BUNCH OF PROFITEERING, LYING, DISHONEST, TWO FACED FUCKING *word censored*.

Spot on Dan. I really couldn't watch him playing for City. As the *word censored* at our club are in it for money, they wouldn't care if the best striker in the prem went to one of our rivals as long as the £££ are coming our way. Business over football.

Watership moment in the Club's history today. For a current player to speak out so openly and strongly against the Arsenal Dictatorship he has single handedly undermined the Clubs current fantasy and has emphatically burst the bubble on where the board see the club and where the players/fans see it! More worryingly how many more will follow him out the door? Loyalty no longer exists and the ones who are loyal, us the fans, are continually mugged off by increased ticket prices every season!

RIP TO THE ARSENAL THAT I LOVED

i think you mean current CLUB CAPTAIN :|

my guess here is that RvP also wanted the midfield and defence strengthened and was told that we'll rely on youth and teh current squad.

If we're getting £22 million quid, then we need to cash in - although I am obviously being too optomistic to think this would be reinvested in the playing squad.
If the bid is from Man City, I think we need to be looking at what we can take back off them - preferably ot one of their rejects

I do have to feel that RvP more than most actually owes this club. How long did we back him through his injuries? through the rape allegations? Is this not worth something a little bit more than most professional players?
What this does prove is that players have no loyalty to the club, we have got to become more ruthless and start treating our players as employees rather than mommycoddling them. The dog has to start wagging the tail (and barking at it more often).

Edited to add...

What I don't get is why Spurs don't seem to have the same problem keeping their players. They pay less in wages, they offer their players nothing in terms of competitive teams, they are perennial losers (for a lot longer than we have been). Why do our players always leave and theirs accept mediocrity?
Something is not right with the way we are selling this club

I have to echo the thoughts of many posters on here and say that RVP will not have any ill feeling from me after this decision. Lets not forget he came here in 2004 on the back of that Invincibles campaign and has seen how the club has gone from competing for every trophy to a club that cares about profit margins and property delevopment. Look at the players who were around him when he arrived and contrast them with those here now and you can see why he had to release that statement. He has witnessed first hand the loss in ambition at the club so he has every right to call out Gazidis and Wenger on behalf of the fans.

That's why Wenker *word censored* and Gazidis *word censored* have been (for them) throwing money around like confetti on Podolski and Giroud....they knew they fucking well KNEW they'd be sellling RVP because they had absolutely NO FUCKING INTENTION of even trying to meet his requests.
