Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

There's not that much difference between that and what Man City are allegedly prepared to pay him so I doubt that RVP would be going through with this - knowing all the upheaval for the family and inevitable abuse from the fans it would cause - purely for a few grand a week more.
i disagree mate. i'm sure that whatever signing fee we're offering him (you mention £5m) will be also given to him in case of a move to city, so in that case the £200,000 pw would become £250,000, if not more. now don't forget that players also have their own sponsors, and get extra money for goals scored, titles won etc, and i'm sure robin knows he's bound to earn more of those at city than arsenal, being a much more competitive team that will probably win the league again. their appearance fee should probably be higher than ours as well.

we'll never know exact figures, but i'd be very impressed if by moving to city he doesn't earn at least 50% more than at arsenal.

I know it's unlikely but could RVP do a Vieira and have a change of heart?

RVP is well within his rights to not sign a new contract. A contract that finishes next season. We are well within our rights not to sell him. To city, to utd, to anyone. If he does a tevez, put him in the reserves.
If a player doesn't want to play for the arse, don't play him. I'm sick and tired of the amounts money be spoken of as mere throwaway numbers. Struggling to pay for my season ticket at 1k a season and players now can't be motivated on £100k a week!
Football as whole is turning into a proper load of pony.

Shame I'm addicted!

The supposed best blogger in the football world ( ) spoke yesterday how the onus is on kroenke to show his mettle and send a strong message about how we are still a big club - how should he do this I hear you ask ? Well according to arseblogger he should send a memo to mainland europes biggest clubs listing the asking price and then go back to rvp and tell him that he can take his pick of the interested clubs cos he won't be going to citeeh. Yes I see no mention of going out and being proactive in the transfer market. I see no suggestion about going out and buying that much needed top quality defensive midfielder  I don't see any talk about buying another keeper or a proper left full either :x Basically to keep this fool happy we should just refuse to sell rvp to citeeh and then he will be happy cos in his world this will show that we are a proper big club - deluded c**t      :banghead:

Well, I was typing something like RVP situation is closer to Nasri rather Vieira. There is a more chance of him becoming a Hleb who apparently was ready to buy out his contract. In current situation we neither compete for top honors nor pay the top money. He wants either one or both of them as he was able to go entire season without injury after trying for 8 years and became a world class player. But deleted at the end as it felt too much one sided opinion.

I have every respect for Van Persie coming out and saying what he has done.
Similar to Nasri's comments after City won the league which were also impressive.

The great thing about them is that they were accurate. Van Persie must be thinking if there are 2 billionaires on the Arsenal board why can't there be some ambition shown to win anything. Van Persie, Fabregas and Nasri are winners, thats why they want out.
