R.I.P Sir Alastair Burnett

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

R.I.P Sir Alastair Burnett

Post by QuartzGooner »

Happened on Friday, had a busy few days so only got the chance to do this now.

As DB10 has pointed out, he certainly was Old School.
A newsreader when the news was mainly about serious world and domestic politics, finance and sport and did not contain the latest gossip about Spice Girls reunions.

Yeah Old School being the appropriate term...he (like other presenters of that era) was also a journalist in his own right..unlike the coiffured bimbo's - and that's just the men! - they have doing the news these days...the Beeb still have the best.

anyway's: R.I.P

ps: Wasn't there a rather good puppet of him on Spitting Images? :rubchin:
