What a waster, remember reading articles in the gooner just before he broke through saying what a bright prospect he was and how he has Bergkamp to learn off and could be his replacement in the number 10 role.

Saw his debut against Oxford in the FA Cup and thought he was the real deal, such a good touch and brilliant vision...didn't put a foot wrong and then in his next game in the forth round of the cup he scored a blinding goal against Middlesbrough at Highbury and left the pitch to 'Walking in a Bentley wonderland'.

I recall one of our reserve team players commented that after he had scored that goal he started wondering around like he had already made it and was looking down upon the other young players at the club and was apparently outraged he had to play in a reserve game a few weeks later, let us not forget our team at the time was one of the greatest England had ever seen so for an 18 year old to be wondering around claiming he should be in the side is a bit much.

Started demanding to be in the side after a few loan appearances at Norwich and a few substitute appearances for us and so we flogged him to Blackburn. Did pretty well there as a more technical player than the others around him so stood out and then the inferiors from down the road came calling and overpaid him. His comments since he left the club have been that of a total twat and I can only hope his career is a downward spiral. Shame as with the right attitude and work ethic he really could have been a great player for us and for England.

Saw the thread title was wondering why this wasnt in the ashley cole love thread,but yeah bentley a dickhead we did well out of him when the scum bought from blackburn not too sure but think we had a sell on clause if blackburn sold him on which came to a pretty sizeable amount.Saw 1 figure of 7m but not sure if it was anywhere near tht amount.
