Bans. A mod prerogative? (OK Chippy ??? )

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So let's say someone posts a comment that you don't agree with is it OK to abuse them by calling them a "KNOBBER"? And if that was to happen, how should a mod react to this?

Let's see..........

1- He had his hand up to his head, similar to the military salute
2- RVP never did that
3- RVP isn't a judas. we were all clapping when he posted that statement , why is he suddenly a hate figure?
4- Who cares about fucking celebrations ?
5- We fucking won
He WAS doing as i describe he did the exact same thing against Southampton Knobber...

And Dutch Judas DID do that - against the chavs in the 5- 3 win - It even came to the attentoin of some parts of the media when he did so...some dumbo (wonder who???) said it was like a heil hitler salute which IS BOLLOCKS...Oh! btw: Fuck off....Knobber
Fucking hell OBG whats happened to you
I replied to your post in the same 'spirit' as you posted yours....I was askinga question about his (Klingon's celebration - ie: what the feck it was all about - and you get all hostile.. - You can always complain to the Mods...also there is a difference between a one off worded insult (though I'll happily insult you more if you like) and a constant barrage of abuse.

Your value and contributions to the transfer thread mean that you would never be banned on here
True. We mods REALLY enjoyed all that extra reading of bullshit that Mac so kindly gifted to us. :banghead: :suicide:

:-P
Although to be fair, it's more than balanced out by the absolute necessity to carefully scrutinise each post on the CorkBarry thread. :barscarf: Sometimes more than the once!!

Thought I might as well add my thoughts to the thread, even though the mods who have commented has summed things up pretty well. I set some rules earlier in the year because some rules needed to be set which people were generally prepared to adhere to and which could be moderated. I accept I probably went over the top initially, but that was largely borne out of frustration. With the help of the mods and some constructive feedback from the users, I think we've managed to find a happy medium.

People may disagree with that, but the feedback I've had and the stats I see, back up that the forum is becoming more popular again which was always the aim. This should be a place for ALL Arsenal fans, but many have been put off because of the actions of a few and that's what we have tried to address over the last 6 months.

Very few people have received permanent bans, but those that have are persistent offenders. Generally speaking, they've not just had a single warning and then been banned, they've had numerous warnings and often multiple temporary bans. Its not a decision we take lightly - the mods will generally debate the point at length before taking any action and if there is any doubt, they will refer it to me. If you have an issue with any of the mods actions, please PM me and explain your grievance. Don't give the mods grief. They do the job they do free of charge and if they weren't around, the forum wouldn't exist anymore.
