As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Back in my student days, I worked behind the bar in the players' lounge in the Clock End for a season. Being that CG was always there the meet and greet stuff, I got to meet him a couple of times. Lovely bloke. Anyway, I noticed that he was missing a finger on his right hand. Obviously I never asked him about it, but I did ask the manager of the catering firm Arsenal used to employ before Delaware North (Letherby and Christopher, for anyone interested) who was a good friend (or at least claimed to be) of Charlie. She said that he claims to have lost the finger in Flymo accident, but in reality he lost it due to some outstanding gambling debt
Now, this lady was genuinely a good friend of Charlie's (oo-er), but I can't say for certain that she wasn't on the wind-up. Anyway, I choose to believe the gambling version of events 'cos it's funnier and cooler

I've heard both versions of that story too. The gambling version I heard from a "Yardie" type character (who looked in his 50’s but was well respected by the older faces in the pub) that was doing security on the door of the Arsenal Tavern the night before the Shammers game back in 2001. But I too thought he was bigging up the story tbh...
