As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

and yes as far as I'm concerned gloryhunters is a fair tag for non-Islington fans who decide to follow a foriegn team
I'm actually a little disappointed in you JD for going down that route
I wasn't born in Islington, so by default I'm a glory hunter in your eyes, but my dad passed on the Arsenal bug, and I'll never lose it. I never really considered being so far away from the club I was programmed to love should mean I should pack them in; instead, it became a challenge to get to as many games as possible, even if that meant, as a teenager, I had to sit in the home end at Anfield, Goodison, Old Trafford, Maine Rd, Burnden Park, Ayresome Park, etc. to follow my team - and back then, we hardly won any of them! Hell, I went to Anfield 7 times as a teenager, and we lost SIX and drew one including watching Fowler score the fastest ever Premier League hat trick from my seat in the KOP end - being surrounded by scousers singing "shit on the cockney's tonight" and spitting out (literally ) the word "attack! attack!" every time they had the ball was pretty miserable
Personally, I think I've earned my spurs ( ), and shouldn't have to be looked down upon by someone just because they were born and raised in spitting distance of the ground. It's one thing to question some people's loyalty, but to go as far as to call ALL FANS born and raised outside of Islington glory supporters is a bit much, mate. You've really gone out of your way to shit on us (and 99% of the fanbase) with that comment.
Youve put some really well made points to JD recently and he didnt even bother to respond and now after he acted like an idiot you feel you have to justify your gooner status? Booger off (as you northern bastards say ) Youre more of a Gooner than Partridge will ever be that goes for the Irish Gooners too (not including Sid ) and 99% of the forum

It's amazing how easily people who throw around glory-hunter accusations based on not being able to see the ground out of your window are stumped by the response "Well if you moved away, wouldn't you still bring your kid up to support '[x]?"

Is it possible to idolize someone soooooo much that you actually turn into them?
Steady there armchair. Although I fully understand why you'd be impressed with my Intelligence, football knowledge, wit and song writing ability, that could be considered a bit weird by others mate.
I think it is possible to idolize someone that you actually turn into them actually.
For example, I twisted my ankle going into the office today, have told my employer that I'm "three maybe four weeks away" from returning to which he replied "SteveO, don't worry you twinkle-toed genius. Take a year off and a pay rise"
Sounds like a great boss to me. Although given that policy, is it any wonder why Britain (and thus Arsenal) are in 'recession'?
I wrote a rather long response to the accusations about JD getting out of hand earlier.
Must be an omen that I failed to post it correctly.
Being a fervent Arsenal supporter for almost 40 years, I need not to justify my views. They are just my opinions.
JD's opinions are welcomed by me because most often they are provocative and mostly against the general opinion of this forum. He initiates (mostly) good debates. Should he piss off quite a few regular posters, then something must be wrong. I enjoy his thought provoking comments, whilst almost never agreeing with his points of view.
I hope that he continues to post his opinions, but not to provoke arguements in the same way as Baba Or Red member did, just for the sake of it.
If he gets flamed or flounces, he is still a poster I enjoy reading.

I don't mind it if somebody's playing Devil's Advocate within reason, having somebody to put your views across to makes a change from all agreeing how shit Wenger is etc.
But when it really crosses over into overt WUMming is when it gets annoying, like the childish Islington comment.

Don't worry fellas - the WUM will be back soon enough with his Peter Hill-Wood style comments about what a bunch of ignorant, ungrateful morons we all are.......not to mention a mile by mile account of his trip to Villa Park. Perhaps he's got a Twatter account that we can all follow - I do hope so.
The man is a fucking disgrace and absolutely has to go.
Even the vast vast majority of AKBs (and I don't like using that term) would accept we had absolutely no chance of winning the league before the season started, particularly when you stack up our one useful striker with the multitude of quality at City and United's disposal up top.
So how the fuck can they continue to blindly support a man who still insists we can win the league after numerous poor performances, consistently shambolic defending and an 11-point deficit? He should be sectioned or sacked. Or both.
Awful, pathetic, mind boggling, confusing and irrational substitutions. No-one can defend Wenger, his decisions are costing the club on the pitch. Proof if needed though that the board are only really interested in what goes on OFF the pitch.
At least when we finish 5th or 6th this year Wenger can't even quote qualifying for the CL as a success. Bring in Pep right now, he will come to the Arsenal.
Pep, Adams and Bould in the coaching staff. How awesome would that be? Pep won't come until the summer, so forget about it until then, we are stuck with AW until the end of the season.
My hatred for this *word censored* is reaching new levels by the week awful performance today and wtf were those subs all about I dream of the day this wanker leaves our club.
