As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Currently watching/converting a video to dvd Arsenal vs Spurs in the Wembley Club International in 1988. The first time we had met each other at Wembley according to the cover.
You can tell even in a friendly what this rivalry meant to the players back then and as i have never seen this game before I am proper getting into it (even though I know the score)
I Forgot how much Paul Walsh's girly hair used to get on my nerves.

I was at that game and the one the next day Vs Bayern Munich when we won 3-0. We beat sp*rs 4-0 and they had there new signings gazza and Paul Stewart playing and we shat all over them.
Then i remember they announced we would be playing Bayern in the early kick off the next day and sp*rs would play AC Milan in the later game but they fucked it up and all the Gooners turned up early and saw Milan batter sp*rs and the sp*rs fans turned up late and missed their game and only to see us batter Bayern and win the tournament
As you said they were only friendlies but it meant so much more and it was a show of how the coming season was going to be as Marwood and Smudger were superb
My Dad took me and one of my brothers. Beating Spurs 4-0 was fantastic. I remember seeing Steve Bould for the first time and thinking he must be really old because of his lack of hair (I was 9 at the time). It was a great day out - I think it cost a fiver for kids to watch Arsenal, Tottenham, Milan and Bayern at Wembley. Still have the programme. Happy days.
Pointless trivia here, but I think the game V Bayern was the first time we wore that away kit , which we wore at Anfield 1989.
That competition went in to become The Makita Trophy/Cup . We beat Liverpool the following year again a Wembley with a headed goal from the aforementioned Bould. I think Anders Limpar played in it the following year when I think we beat Aston Villa on a Friday Night. The tournament was held in Highbury for a few seasons , I remember Arsenal playing Sampdoria or Napoli there.
In 1994 the Tony Adams Testimonial was sandwiched between the tournament and the season opener V Man City . This was blamed for the poor attendance at TA's testimonial and many pundits at the time felt that TA was so pissed off with the attendance he actually questioned his future with the club. The fact that his opposition were Crystal Palace may have had more got to do with it.
Happy days - really felt we were on to something special then. GG firmly had his magic hat on and a new breed of young Gooner was coming through the ranks.
Spurs meanwhile we're doing what they do best - spurning money on fat overrated wankers with girly hairstyles destined for more failure yet again
Copying George Graham's 11 video and the 93 League cup final today.Cant believe it is 19 years ago that we won the cup on the way to the cup double. Happy days.
Ive only just remembered i found a Herd calling card on the steps inside Wembley that day too. It went along the lines of Congratulations you've been visited by the Herd thought it was pretty cool at the time
