Where's the optimists? Is 3rd Progress?

Yesterday we played well. If we've now lost the Premiership then its because of the 4 draws that preceeded it.

But I am optimistic - and do believe that Arsene is doing a great job. And do believe that Quarter Finals or better in the Champions League along with a top 3 finish (albeit that Liverpool are now worryingly close now in 4th!) in the Premier League qualifies as a very good season. BUT.... when I repeatedly quote to friends that we're doing brilliantly "considering the age/experience of the squad along with so many injuries" its even starting to sound a little empty to ME!

Fact is that we have got plenty of money in the bank - and with plenty more to come from the property deals - and I can't believe that there won't be one or two players available in the summer (and weren't one or two player available during the season.... Feck it, we could have bought Berbatov!) who would improve the squad. Principals are great to have - but they almost seem to be a millstone round our neck. Like playing with a hand tied behind your back!

Reminds me of playing in the CC Final last season v Chavski. Yeah, the kids done great. But we lost. And it was a our (Arsene's) choice not to put out the first team in a major final.....

Frustrated from MK.....

Sorry MK, but a very good season means we have won a major trophy, not finished 3rd and got to a CL Qtr Final. That is a fucking poor season for a Club of Arsenal's stature these days.

Lets see, last summer we had a Â£25 million transfer budget, had got knocked out by PSV in CL and finished 4th in the Prem without being anywhere near the title at all.

This summer, we will have got to last sixteen, a Â£70+ transfer budget and fought for the title wherever we end up (still think we will get second as I said at start of the season) with the knowledge that, assuming Arsene doesn't do mass selling, we will have a bigger squad.

So yes, I consider it an improvement.

magic,, every post you make is saying we made proress,, and that theres Â£70m in the bank

3 years without a trophy
unless we win the big one this year,,

and please,, we were told that by moving to the grove it would make us able to compete for the better player,

We will see if he spends his new transfer budget, be interesting to see what he does with it

2 finals and a title challenge during the transition period isn't bad

The thing is everybody knows that our squad is 2 or 3 quality players short and everybody also accepts that jens and bert are sure to leave in the summer so that means wenger would have to bring in minimum of 5 players (men not boys) this summer and can anyone really see that happening

By that I am not even taking into account the possible departures of flamini(big possibility),hleb(doubtful but I wouldnt mind if he did),hoyte(cant really be expected to stay given a lack of chances) and god knows who else. Failure to add 3 quality players on top of replacing the departed players will leave us in the very same position next season as where we are now and that is totally unacceptable to me

we are only repeating what we said last summer.The squad is not strong enough.And how a manager of Arsene"s standing could not see it beggars belief. Its alright some fans saying we have made progress but the last two league season were awful it would have been difficult not to improve
The lack of a quality keeper a CB a goal scoring winger and a top class stiker was what we needed at the start of the season.
The likes of Eboue Senderos Diaby and Bentner are not good enough.Fans were raving about Helb at the start of the season but he hasn"t got a league goal since october.Rosicky is always fcinking injured.

Since 2004 we have gone backwards because the players who have been brought in to replace the likes of Henry Bergkamp Pires and Viera have not been good enough.
There can be no more excuses we now have a stadium that is sold out every week with 60,000 who pay the most expensive prices in the league.Its time we should be winning titles
