Olivier Giroud - Another Alan Smith or "Le Chapman"?

Scoring in the two cups is nice but IMO it's just a bonus. If I try to rate a player I don't even look at how they did in some cup games. He scored 8 goals in 26 games (PL+CL) and has 5 assists. As he played a lot of those games as a sub (1620 mins which is as much as 18 full games) those numbers are not abysmal but ok. And imo that's just what Giroud is - ok.

He only scored a 2nd goal because of the brilliant ball that the great Abou played to him. Diaby looked like Xavi, Fabregas, and Busquets all rolled into one on that play. SteveO will back me up 8)

He is scoring which is a start. Now he needs to start scoring against the top team. If he can do that, than he has arrived and will be considered a good buy rather than an average buy. Had a very good game today and against West Ham, but should have good games against both.

The game changing miss v Chelsea is how you should judge Giroud. As Merson said today if that had been RVP we would have been 1-0 up at the Bridge

yeah top strikers never miss opportunities

giroud is a very good striker, if only we had another option on the bench (maybe a striker with a different style) i'd be glad with our attacking options. it's our defending that has been abysmal

im happy to have the jury back out with Giroud, last weekend against Chavski the jury had returned its verdict of 'Pants' but this week he may have done enough,im going to give him the rest of the season,if he can bag some goals in big games then he may well turn out to be a good buy.i do think however he is more of a plan b striker, weve always played with pace and balls over the top,David Villa is more our type, some chance of seeing him with us but id definately rather have a pacey atheltic centre forward who thrives on pace then a 7ft lump who needs the ball put on his head or foot.

Because RVP never missed any sitters did he?
Judge him on his overall performances, he has done well al things considered. We have problems...he isnt one of them - he has contributed more to our club than some players who seem to be given unlimited lives on here.

I bet there were some people gutted he did well today - good!

Nobody is comparing the two.the point is any player misses chances.

Giroud has done well since coming in, i wont budge from that opinion and he gives us something we havnt had before - he leads the line. WE ALL AGREE we need another striker, but that isnt his fault.

Good Player.
