Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
How did Robin do in his first Prem league season? All this gets forgotten, the bloke works his arse off, scores goals and really cares about OUR club. He should be given the maximum support.

RvP is the best centre forward in world football. If you were expecting Giroud to be of that standard then I dont know what to say.donaldo wrote:37 goals and player of the season.Scored away at Man Utd Chelsea(hat-trick) and Liverpool.Good strikers score in the big gamesLDB wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caqDbP4Lqrodonaldo wrote:The game changing miss v Chelsea is how you should judge Giroud. As Merson said today if that had been RVP we would have been 1-0 up at the BridgeBendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:BOOOM! hahaha ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The people who made the decision not to build a quality team for rvp and then to let him go should pay with their jobs. Giroud obviously is not to blame, he has done well so far this season coming into a 'crisis club' with boots like rvps to fill and deserves all the support and encouragement he can get from the fans.

I agree that folk who were expecting an RVP player would be disappointed and that was never the standard we were going to get.LDB wrote:RvP is the best centre forward in world football. However I still think the point of him being a "flat track" bully is valid as he does seem to go missing on the big occasion- against the Chavs he was woeful. Hes not as bad as some of the other players we have ie Klingon but he is 27 and I would expect someone at 27 to be at the peak of their powers. Today he was good but for every decent performance against a small club there is a matching abject performance in a big game.
We badly need a top drawer centre forward but we all know that our tight arse manager wont deliver.
Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
I'll stick my neck out and say this bloke will be a great player for us.
Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
It's all very easy I don't know why so many have a problem with this topic
If you want to win the league he is not good enough
if you're ok with a top6 finish than he's good enough
Glad to help you out

Re: Giroud replacing RVP
his second goal yesterday was very RVP-esque, the run, touch and finish was superb.
He took a while to get going, but I think he is a very good front man, good in the air, good hold up play and a decent finisher. Whilst he may never reach the heights of RVP he can definitely progress to be a very important player for us.

Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
He deserves credit for those two goals yesterday because regardless of the opposition they were very good finishes. Perhaps the visionary pass for the second goal that only 1 player on the field was capable of is worthy of praise too or is that beyond the blinkers of the many?
As for the comparisons with RvP......as I said and so it appears, only Giroud's supporters seem to bring this one up and now it seems some of them are taking it seriously themselves which is both ironic and hilarious.
As I said, when he goes to the Allianz and bags us the crucial winning goal and stands up to the 90 minute physical battle against a top class team I will gladly hold my hands up and take the shit I'll deserve for sticking my neck out.
