He isnt half shit in the air for such a big lad, has about as much pace as a broken down Skoda on the M25 and is about as co-ordinated as a 15 year old boy losing his virginity.

Indeed. I've never - and I mean never - seen a centre half who has been so reluctant to head a football, preferring most of the time to chest the ball rather than put his nut on it.SteveO 35 wrote:I suppose he thought it was the only time he might connect with a header because it certainly won't be any time when the ball is more than six feet off the groundmcdowell42 wrote:For their 2nd goal yesterday he tried to head the ball when it was easier to kick it it was only Bout 2feet off the ground

He was our captain yesterday.

Look, Almunia has captained us on several occasions... after that, everyone is a step up!1989 wrote:He was our captain yesterday.![]()

Oh, and just be glad he didn't hand the armband to Santos!

What an occasion that would be - the first time an Arsenal captain has exchanged armbands with the opposition skipper at half timeg88ner wrote:Look, Almunia has captained us on several occasions... after that, everyone is a step up!1989 wrote:He was our captain yesterday.![]()

Re: The Big F**king German
He is a fucking coward. Conceded the first because he turned his back on a shot, and all he does all game is lean gently into people half his height and fail to get his head on the ball. Never have I seen him knock a player miles or get a knee in a striker's back or any of the tricks of the trade that proper CBs use to win headers. And his falling giant redwood impression is embarrassing.

He's afraid of contact. For a center back that is unheard of.northbank123 wrote:He is a fucking coward. How he managed 80+ caps for Germany is a complete mystery.
Bet the senile loon has him on massive wages too.

Re: The Big F**king German
My god, he was just appalling last night wasn't he? What's with all this just dangling a leg out every time Sturridge or Suarez were running at him - like a little boy who'd never been taught how to tackle. His tackling was almost as bad as Santos's efforts.
He certainly wasn't alone in being shit at the back last night - that whole back line were fucking appalling - but I'm afraid this bloke is completely unsuited to the pace and physical rigours of Premiership football. The number of caps for Germany is irrelevant as they are a top side and in dozens of those games they would have been absolutely dominant and playing against muppets like San Marino and England
The pace of international football is also completely different and who has ever seen a national team play like Stoke? (apart from England
)
He can't handle the aerial challenge, he is frightening against a pacy strike force like last night and he will always let us down

Watch Mertesacker's 'block'

That's why we concede so many goals. We have defenders who don't want to defend.
