Munich at home

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Or put it this way - which would you rather?
A)Wenger replaced by the beginning of next season
B) Arsenal crowned Champions of Europe

I'd prefer B). . . . I'll give you B) is a fucking long shot, but stranger things have happened, and imagine how amazing it would be if it somehow happened this year. For as long as its a theoretical possibility any Gooner has got to be rooting for B) rather than A), for as long as B) is a theoretical possibility.

We moan about 4th place being our "Trophy" while simultaneously hoping for a defeat to Bayern Munich in the knockout stages of the Champions League? Face it, that makes fuck all sense. What next, hoping for a defeat at Spurs and vs Utd, with RVP getting a hatrick? No thanks.

"Same ol' Germans - always cheating?" (Apols to our German Gooners, no offence meant, but you must acknowledge the history re your 'dives' in the World Cups)

It's got to be Short term pain for Long term gain in my mind though cameron.

What would you rather prefer

A)Wenger replaced by the beginning of next season
B) Wenger being given bumper 4 year extension for reaching the C.L final then getting trounced 5-0 by Barca.

And of course the only reason we'd lose 5-0 was because of a bad run of injuries/not focussed enough/playing with the handbrake on/players lacking mental strength.

Any excuse to hide the tactical ineptitude Our Dear Leader shows every bloody week.

cameron326 wrote:I think Wenger's time is up, but rooting for a Bayern victory tomorrow night? Thats fucking crazy. Bayern are one of the top teams in the world and most football fans would kill for their team to be involved in a game like tomorrows. If and if its a big if we miraculously beat bayern - one of the top three or four teams in the competiotn, whose to say we cant win the thing? Stranger things have happened. Certain recent results have been disgraceful and Wenger has to take the flack for that, but tomorrow's not about Wenger, it should be about Arsenal overcoming the odds and disastrous form beating the one of the giants of European football.

Lets be honest here cameron, and admit that everything is about wenger these days - his players, his team, his tactics and his vice like grip on everything at the club is suffocating the life out of our club. Until he goes you can forget about winning the capital one cup never mind the champs league trophy - some deluded morons point to the chavs victory last season as a reason why we can win it this season but they conveniently forget that they had real leaders in their team and that allied to a tactical gameplan got them through. Sadly we meet neither of those requirements

Just listened to it - cant decide whether to laugh or cry

For me it sounds like he is accusing the press of starting the new contract rumour just to wind up the fans - does that mean that he is aware that the thought of him extending his stay would seriously piss off the fans ? :rubchin:

He also states that everybody knows everybodys team now so there are no surprises but when asked about bayerns defence he started to say that he didnt know only to then backpedal and say that he wasnt going to talk about bayern  Ironic statement really given that only a few minutes previously he stated that he wouldnt talk about blackburn cos he was only there to talk about the bayern game

Of course the stand out part is when he asked the reporter why he was looking at him - credit to the reporter for quickly responding with the "it's your press conference" reply   Of course even then the senile old c**t had to respond with his condescending and dismissive "thank you" comment

Draw or narrow defeat. Might be a big lose in the return leg but not tomorrow I think. Of course it could happen though.

Think we will be beaten convincingly over two legs but don't agree that we're going to concede 8-10 goals or be spanked from here all the way to Munich.

Maybe get a draw tomorrow or a 2-1 defeat, something along those lines.

Going to be in N5 but don't have a ticket, anyone got recommendations on which pub on/around Holloway Road is best for watching the game?

Likely a midfield of

-------Martinez-----Schweinsteiger------
---------------Kroos-------------------------

we'll be up against. Not the fastest so I imagine our pacey midfield should be able to craft a few chances on the counter. I just can't see us containing Ribery/Robben/Shaqiri/Muller however.
