Personally I don't think that it is marginal at all.....I don't want us to qualify ever again under this regime 8)

ArsenalN5, you are a clearly a young supporter - you don't remember the European cup as it used to be, when you had to actually be champions to play in it. You seem to believe the bullshit about the importance of the competition and how not being in it would prevent us from being able to sign the best players or retain our best players - guess what.....it hasn't done either for us in the last few years anyway. Being in this cup of no integrity hasn't allowed us to sigh players like Klingon and Giroud cos no top club would want them either way - with the exception of cazorla which other signing in recent years would have snubbed us if we were not in champs league ?

Are you even slightly embarrassed by the wenker quote about 4th place being a trophy ? Does our disdain for the domestic cups bother you at all ? This continued fixation on 4th is detrimental to the future of the club and perpetuates the loser mentality so dominant within our club. Lets get back to targets like winning trophies again and allow kroenke to suffer the loss of finishing in the euro wilderness

In 1982 we finished 16 points behind a Liverpool side generally recognised as one of the finest in Europe, and 17 points behind their European Cup final side of 1984

Last year we finished 19 points behind two Manchester sides embarrassed in the group stage of the CL and this season we will finish 20+ points adrift

The only difference for Terry Neill and Don Howe after him was that they weren't rewarded for the pathetic failure of finishing 20 points behind with some consolation prize of qualifying for a tournament we can never win.

Lord Wenger - a failure on the scale of Neill and Howe 2006-2016 (might as well state that fact because the useless wanker is here for keeps). In 1984 he'd have got the boot
Some very good points made here!

And also there was Rioch who was sacked after finishing 5th. Admittedly 19 points behind champions Man United ... but level on points and goal difference with 4th placed Villa.

Good points from the point of view of supporters, blah, blah blah to Stanley and pals who will say it's the Economy stupid.

AW has gotten them champions league football and it's minimum £30million group stage wonga. He is improving the value of their investment and got their brand to be one of the top 5 recognised brand in Europe.

Yes the wage bill is high but you need to compete with the best of Europe. The net spend is low and our overtaking rivals have spent a fortune in transfers to get to this position and will start spending a fortune on wages to stay there as you have to.

As I say all BS points for us but it's points that they will swear by.

FWIW I am against him staying as manager as he's displaying either breath taking arrogance, stupidity or senility in refusing to face up to what now looks like a serious decline of Arsenal Football club.

AW praised the team for their effort, attitude & spirit after the Spurs game.
I have known Sunday league teams that have all those 3, but the defining criteria is ability.

Chances are it’ll take 2 years in a row of missing out on ECL qualification before there’s a reality check at the top. It might help if Bould was prepared to speak up about what’s really going on.

Been saying for 3 years now he should go,Shame he hasnt got the guts to quit, but why would he quit a £7m per year job? I'm past blind hatred for his smugness now,When I see and hear his raving drivel I actually pity him now,I wonder if HE really believes the utter embarrassing bo**ocks that comes out of his mouth?

He must have skin like a rhino. How can he sit there, knowing so many people are laughing at him now? Really. It's unbelievable.

If it was me, I would have had a breakdown years ago. But then I am not a smug, thick-skinned cockend.

the club is rotten to the core, its not just wenger.

I read the quotes from Wenger about we don't prepare for anybody or worry about anybody, then I read RVP's interview with the Telegraph on Saturday morning :
“The way he (Meulensteen) trains is an exceptional,” Van Persie said.“He is truly one of the best coaches in the world. I have had a lot of good trainers, but it’s the way he prepares our team for games. Every match is different, so every training session in the build-up to games is unique.

“We know exactly what to expect and he wins points for us through his training. We’ve won a lot of games by the odd goal and they are point winners, which we train for. For instance, against Chelsea I scored after a low cross from Antonio Valencia on the right. It might seem a fluke, but the whole week before the game was spent working on that move.

“Another example is my goal against Wigan, when I cut the ball inside and shot with my right foot. Again this situation, we trained on.

“Every day I work on new things,” Van Persie said. “I become alert to small details that make me better. I go into work every day whistling. From the first day, they have made me feel welcome, the boys made me feel right at home.
“I feel better and fitter. In the last week, I played Wednesday and Saturday. In those games I played with ease.”

and then i read this from AW yesterday :
Wenger, whose side are next in action against Bayern Munich in the second leg of their last-16 clash, added: "It happened to us many times this season and only in big games.

"It's difficult to say why, there's no common thing, in all the games there is a different problem, but after you make it difficult for yourself.
there are two common things Arsene - as the Royal Marines say it "Piss Poor Preparation Produces Piss Poor Performance", and the other is YOU.

case closed.

with hindsight, i no longer blame RvP for leaving either.

I would of have too, with someone who didn't know what they're doing in charge in the dug out and the medical centre - how is Diaby coming along LOL.

when someone says they are "stronger and fitter" AFTER leaving The Arsenal, that's the end of the myth that the limited, targeted training keeps our players the fittest as well.

I imagine Mrs. Bould tells him to keep his mouth shut and wait to be promoted or fired - just like my missus...

The chorus to this song sums it up for me what needs to be done to the whole of Arsenal FC

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESy-Z8vqMrE
Rip it up and start again
Rip it up and start again
I hope to God you're not as dumb as you make out
I hope to God
I hope to God
And I hope to God I'm not as numb as you make out
I hope to God
I hope to God
