where's good in the UK to visit? i've been to all the major cities, i'd like to visit bath as well in the near future.

i will also be visiting paris in late may when the season is done with the mrs so if anyone has any hotel recommendations let me know :barscarf:
Last time I was in Paris just rented an apartment. Not as if you will do any cooking and that while you're there. Blinding location too, just on the Boulevard St. Germain. If you fancy that (much cheaper than a hotel, probably more space and a better location too) I can probably find the details of the agency I used somewhere. VRBO is good too.

If you're on the Eurostar, go to Chez Michel near the Gare du Nord for a meal. Expensive, but amazing.

Don't know why the feck I did - But I did...

I started watching this on BBC's iPlayer....Not being funny but I've got troubles enough of my own...but watching this really makes me angry - as I know it is endemic Globally....and there's all these Fat *word censored* Cats driving companies into administration/Liquidation - whilst (literally) Creaming any moneies off the top (See the movie Margin Call as an example) - whilst 1,000's and 1,000's go hungry and homeless.

It make's me angry and it makes me terribly sad...All these poor children homeless and hope less.

I often wonder how the world became so Twisted and Ugly.

Many years ago (before I married - and later divorced  :( ) I travelled the world - My Dear Grancha had left me some money on the proviso I 'Travel and Educate Myself with it' and so I did, in India/S.America Kids living on the streets with No one and Nothing eating out of dustbins - some being killed and eaten by dogs.......that was back in the 70's....But it's now everywhere...Britain/France/America/Germany...Feck I mean....what the FUCK have we done to ourselves, the children The World..??? <headshake>

It can be a pretty fucked up world, man. I thought I’d seen poverty in inner cities like Brum, Dublin, London, Belfast, Paris etc etc. But then I visited Cairo. Poverty on a different level. We were there in July 2002 and the place was fucked up. Whole extended families living in basically mud huts by the million. We were driven through the ghetto areas on the way to the museum and Pyramids and it was an eye-opener. Running open channels in the streets served as sewers and not every street had one, often the shit just accumulated on the road. Most mud huts had no roof just a piece of corrugated iron precariously perched atop or sometimes just a sheet.

And then we went through the security ring of steel into the central part of Cairo and it was all fucking Mercedes, Jags and Ferraris everywhere.

Yes, some people O know went there and were truly shocked at the all or nothing of those who live well or struggle every day.

I did a volunteer Teaching Job for a year in Mexico - way back when - And again it was All or Nothing - either you had a good job (Educated) or Not or no job - Loads of queues every morning of hundreds of men for a few labour jobs working in the fields....

And the kids who lived on the streets - No shoes sometimes just a ragged pair of shorts and (maybe) a T-shirt...I used to ask friends to send over clothes 2nd hand/whatever - and hand them out to the homeless kids...and yet they had an amazing attitude - hungry, homeless but would share what they had...I soon learned - They will either share with you or give you what they have or take everything you have...

Went to an Old (200 yr old) market in S.mexico - I was 'escorted' by one of the Mexican teachers and a friend ( musc led bound heavy duty hard man) - and they told me of how - local crims would 'mug' any foreigners - they would do this strangle hold..knock the person/s unconscious and steal Everything - underpants, socks the lot...But was an amazing place if you went with someone 'known'.... some taxi drivers would also hold people at gun point and take everything...Life was/is so cheap in such places...

It's damn hard Flash....(and FFS DB I mean finding a job   ) ...Once you get past 45 no fucker regardless of what qualifications one may have - wants to know...ageism may be illegal but it's rife.

Sorry, mate . So in answer to your question - No luck yet and the land lord has given me 6 weeks or he'll give me notice to quit.

Thanks for asking, it is appreciated.
