Wilshere out for the season?
Re: Wilshere out for the season
And why exactly would Wenger lie and say Wiltshire back in 3 weeks, when he knows full well he will not kick a ball again this season.
Some people see conspiracy every where.
From what i understand the injury doesn't require treatment, just rest.

Would have been helpful to have somebody whose first touch doesn't go straight to the opposition in midfield rather than Rosicky I guess...samflitt wrote:Did we miss Wilshere tonight?

I still believe that theory that Wenger made up this injury so Jack wouldn't be called in for England where he would get tired and maybe really injured. He'll be back after international break for sure.

Re: Wilshere out for the season
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere to miss England games due to a precautionary break.
After a scan revealed bone bruising on his foot Wilshere’s specialist recommended that it be taken out of the firing line; for a footballer, that means a long rest. Keen to protect his player, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given Wilshere a three-week break, taking him out of action not only for the Gunners but for this month’s two England internationals.
The fear, according to David Hytner in The Guardian, is that Wilshere could have developed “another stress fracture in his foot”. Given his injury record at the age of 21, this is a significant worry. Wilshere has had several lay-offs already, some of them longer than planned, and the reoccurrence of this problem is cause for concern for England.
Whether we like it or not, the young midfielder is a big hope for England’s short-term future and to some extent we’re going to end up relying on him. That brings with it unfair pressure and the horrible weight of expectation, but, until the national team set-up and everything that supports it is significantly improved, it is what it is.

Rosicky was relentless - he set the tone for the whole team defensivelynorthbank123 wrote:Would have been helpful to have somebody whose first touch doesn't go straight to the opposition in midfield rather than Rosicky I guess...samflitt wrote:Did we miss Wilshere tonight?
lungbursting running for 90 mins, was a brilliant heart-filled performance

Not got a problem with his effort fella - heart-filled I'd agree with but brilliant? Not a chance - gave the ball away nearly every time he got it, not just misplaced passes but fundamentally failing to get it under control in the first place half the time! Don't get me wrong I'm the first to slag players off when I feel they're not putting in their shift and some have questioned Rosicky's desire so I appreciate the effort but you're well beyond the confines of reality to say he was brilliant imo.highburyJD wrote:Rosicky was relentless - he set the tone for the whole team defensivelynorthbank123 wrote:Would have been helpful to have somebody whose first touch doesn't go straight to the opposition in midfield rather than Rosicky I guess...samflitt wrote:Did we miss Wilshere tonight?

IMO if Rosicky carries on putting in that level of performance
they he'll play every week and we will finish top London club

Rosicky was abysmal.I thought he had signed for Bayern the amount of times he gave the ball to their playershighburyJD wrote:IMO if Rosicky carries on putting in that level of performance

Re: Wilshere out for the season
we didn't concede at the AA as much because of the massive shifts put in by Giroud and Rosicky
as the indomitable performance by Kos and great organisation by Per
they were where they had to be ALL the time
positional brilliance and tactical tweaking are not things I associate with our recent sides
I say the manager is silly when he ignores the importance of those qualities
feeling the same way about fans who knock TR7s performance

Re: Wilshere out for the season
JD Giroud was NOT where he was meant to be all the time - he may have chased down well but in terms of doing a lone striker's job of providing an outlet to midfielders in possession too often he was nowhere to be seen - hence where we couldn't keep the ball for longer than 5 seconds.
And there are literally hundreds of players who are able of maintaining position and running a lot like Rosicky did so I don't really agree with you praising him to high heaven - he was feckin useless 95% of the time in possession and gave the ball away so much.

I see old WUMmy chops is still being allowed to wind people up in a way that was deemed worthy of a banning order for others !!
Giroud was absolutely fucking abysmal the other night. His lack of any ability to hold the ball up properly was the main cause of why we didn't get a kick for over an hour. Rosicky was little more than average and that's coming from someone who has stood up for the bloke for a while now.
And Augie.....in case you're out there......Walcott was absolutely fucking hopeless

Re: Wilshere out for the season
steveO - you don't understand football, probably can't play, defn8ly weren't there
was absolutely obvious to all of us who were, how unbelievably hard Giroud and Rosicky worked
we kept a clean sheet because we defended as a team
Giroud was absolutely key to that,
tactically we shifted - Cazorla and Walcott had less defensive responsibility, TR7 and Giroud more
it meant when we won posession our 'out' ball was more likely to be Feo shifting inside,
than Giroud who was a bit deeper
Walcott created the goal and put in another absolutely brilliant cross
he wasn't at his very best, he had a slightly different job from normal
which I don't think he dealt with it as well as he could have,
nonetheless foolish to call a winger who creates a goal fucking hopeless
creating one goal, creates some hope
hard work and strategic cuteness are not things we expect from this Arsenal team
(and not things I'd expect the hard-of-thinking like steveO to understand)
I'm happy they delivered and hope it can be translated to future games
