Olivier Giroud - Another Alan Smith or "Le Chapman"?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Dreadful? I saw Arshavin loads in his first year and his was superb :?

There is something about Giroud that just makes me think he hasn't got the quality and if we're to challenge we need better. As i said earlier i don't dislike Giroud and he works very hard and the nickname Le Chapman is very harsh IMO but he is average. You must see something i cant maybe because you're from Islington

Does anyone that is/used to be associated with the club that dares not lick out the arse of Wenger necessarily have to be bitter or hate Arsenal? :rubchin: :rubchin: It's just that it seems the easiest insult for people to throw whenever criticism - mild or otherwise - is leveled at the manager/club.  Is it a coincidence that it especially seems to have come more to prominence over the last few years? :rubchin: :rubchin:

It appears ex-players can't win. If they speak their mind out of love for the club like Wrighty does, they get stick. if they try and show impartiality like Smith does - and is kind of required to do by his position as a football analyst - then they get stick also!! :banghead: :banghead:

More likely to be daddy's house in France

Amazed to hear any Gooner disagree that Smudger is down on the Arsenal

People like Wrighty and even Adams recently are subject to some pretty heavy criticism for speaking out (and in Adams' case he was actually defensive of Wenger personally to an extent but critical of where the club is at). People say things like it was just a job for them and point out that Adams wasn't born a Gooner and shit like that. Basically rubbish away years of blood, sweat and tears on the pitch because they dare criticise Wenger and/or the club - and then people have the cheek to turn around and suggest that those who want Wenger out obviously weren't fans of the club before he was there.

lets put this into another perspective, lets say David Villa is available in the summer and lets say he wants to move to Arsenal, would anybody of sane body and mind say ' no thanks,we have Giroud'? the answer must be a resounding NO!! therefore thats deems as suggested by many here that Giroud simply isnt good enough.if anybody thinks they'd rather stick with him over a world class centre forward then they are as mad a lord wenker himself

but that's not the only option,
swapping Giroud for Villa would also be a (less serious) mistake
we need additional options at centre forward

I think Villa is good enough to hit the ground running but he also could have an adaptation period
or a new league dip (Hazard, who I rate highly, has done)

villa as a first choice with giroud as back up would seem quite desireable or a villa/giroud partnership(some chance).i dont wont us to bin giroud, its just that he's not good enough to be our number one attacking option imho

Arsenal could miss out on signing David Villa after Barcelona have offered him a new contract.

Smudger acts like he hates the club, way less impartial about us than Neville, Keane or Redknapp

Unless we get him for £4-6mil I don't think it would be a good signing anyway. Quality but too old. Next.

I think you're seriously paranoid if you truly believe that!!  Indeed, I'd go as far as to say that anyone that did think that was the case was probably part of the 'tin foil hat wearing' brigade!!

Roy Keane is so fucking bitter towards United and in general (says stuff just to be a *word censored*) and Redknapp offers no insight into anything other than his crotch which is normally presented to the viewer.

but please - listen to Smudger next time he has anything to say about the Arsenal
sounds to me like he always wants us to lose...
