Emirates Cup 2013/Galatasary and Trouble at Overseas Games

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

a finger to the arsenal fans if ever I've seen one.

Surely this a good invitation. 3 of the last 8 clubs left in champions league. After the complaints of hamburg, PSG and new York red bulls, 3 top quality teams seems logical. It seems what ever the club does is wrong in the eyes of some fans. Anyway, might be the only time we play clubs like this for a couple of years.
don't think you've managed to grasp that there is no problem with the other two clubs.

Reckon would be worth the Cup being against national teams one year: Rep of Ireland, Poland and Nigeria would draw a big crowd in North London.

Well.... in Copenhagen it seemed like about 99% of them were. :|

This isn't aimed at you BDB, just a general rant. I suppose it depends if many of their "travelling" fans actually travel from Turkey. The North London Turks (and any Turkish non-football fans I've met) are lovely people mostly. Had a Turkish taxi driver share his lunch with my mate and I on the way out to Standsted after a match couple years ago. Great bloke.

But there is a reason that Gala have had so much trouble over the last 20 years. A huge number of their fans are scumbags. Not PC, but fucking true.

I hate Wham because they stabbed one of ours to death. That should never be forgotten. I don't want to fight every Wham fan I meet but I fucking hate them and their club. I hate the scum because of the way their pathetic cowardly "superfirm" attacks civilians outside shite fart drain (and also because they are the scum 8) ). Similarly I hate Gala because of Copenhagen. Someone said above we should "grow up"? Fuck "growing up", scum is scum. The atmos in the city that day was poisonous. What should have been a great trip (like Paris 06 was) and a piss up and alot of fun was fucked by scumbags. You try paying a fortune to go to a game, and then spend a whole day trying not to get stabbed by a crowd of fucking knackers and then talk about "growing up".

You need to fuck of and die *word censored* ,those fuckers did all they can to hack stab and boot our supporters that day and it wont be forgotten in 50 years let alone 13 .

Only a callous bunch of cuntz like Arsenal would even contemplate such an action which I think will backfire on them for all the wrong reasons, I truly despair at them and cannot imagine they have given this much thought .

I'd have been more comfortable with Spurs than this lot !

The sad fact is that the ground will be full with *word censored* who are excited to see Eboue again and get a hard on when he does a little dance.

People get far to wound up about the Emirates Cup - who forces you to go?

Its a day out, we can get a group of us on the slash, sit together, have a laugh - something you cant really do during the season, the football isnt really the main focal point of the day - but two games is decent value with some good players on show (and potentially our new signings   ).

I dont see it as an insult at all, they have chosen teams to draw in he crowds and rake in as much bunce as they can (Drogba, Wesley etc) - I have no problem with them doing it over that weekend, every other club rinses their fans / the public, its footballs problem, not Arsenals.

What happenned in the past was terrible, but every club has / has had rucks round Europe - there are some big Turkish fans in London, why should they suffer because of idiots?

You should put that question to the Gooners who got stabbbed in copenhagen.

Or maybe you should put the question to the everton fans who never had the chance to represent their country in the european cup and all because a few of their idiot neighbours

In all fairness bdb, could you ever see dirty leeds inviting the turks to play at elland road ? Surely it is the same situation......the turks killed leeds fans and tried to kill a few Gooners as well. Must somebody die to see the club respect those that were stabbed in copenhagen ? :x

You could be right. IF it's mostly attended by London-based Turks who, as I say, are mostly sound decent people. The worry is if the Instanbul based Gala Ultras travel in numbers, motivated by a chance of a rematch with us or Leeds. Straight up, BDB - these are the vermin of the Earth. Absolute scum in vast numbers. And again, that is no reflection upon the Turkish people, just as Combat 18 scum are no reflection upon the Engerlish and IRA scum are no reflection upon the Oirish.

Also agree with your earlier point; No one is forced to attend these pre-season tournaments and they can be a nice relaxed old piss up with your mates. 8)

Although I sympathise with DBs post, and at the end of the day he was there,
I basically agree with BendtnersDrinkingBuddy
can't see there being trouble, Istanbul ultras will be priced out by local Turks
and has BDB says, why should they suffer because of idiots from a decade ago...?

I'll be going, enjoying myself and getting pissed up
(Although not as pished as BDB - new signings indeed)

It would be the first time our greedy pricing system had actually been a good thing!
