Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
The constant anti-French BS on here is getting a little tiresome
France is up the road, I can get in my car and be there in a couple of hours
Ireland is a lot further away from Islington

only some racism is unacceptable here (and only from some people)DB10GOONER wrote:Oh. Dear. God.highburyJD wrote:The constant anti-French BS on here is getting a little tiresome

some of our greatest ever players are French
defending them isn't about being from Islington
it's about not being a prick
(apart from the car bit - its my first car. In my mid 30s. That bit kind of is being a prick)
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I noticed it this morning in another thread (which has now been edited I see) - It seems some people on here aren't happy with normal hatred but need to take it up a level and start making xenophobic comments. Fucking sad.

What sort of racism/xenophobic comments are we talking about?

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
a good test is - take 'French' out of an epithet, replace it with 'black'
- ask yourself whether it sounds acceptable
(or if you'd say it to a huge Jamaican bouncer)
but to find examples searching Clouseau, frog or French might be a start
the anti-French abuse has been pretty prevalent recently
(and just one one ill-judged paedo quip is deleted, shocker
)

Your "ill judged peodo quip" was highly offensive to a regular forum member so I deleted it.highburyJD wrote:a good test is - take 'French' out of an epithet, replace it with 'black'

Regarding the French thing. We do delete any xenophobic or racist comments we come across – in fact we delete tons of them before most people even see them. Often we will just delete the word “French” so as not to ruin the OP’s post. But it is a work in progress. We have to see the comment before we can delete it and modding this place is time consuming. Sometimes people drag up old threads and such comments will be there from before the clamp down on abuse.
If anyone sees a racist or xenophobic comment let us mods know and we will edit/delete as necessary.
But let’s not confuse banter with xenophobia/racism. I would say the Clouseau comments are not racist. They are cultural piss takes based on Wenger’s physical actions. How they can be construed as anti-French is beyond me.
As SUPERFANJD says, if in doubt, and as a quick rule of thumb, place the word “Black” in front of your comment and if you would not say it then your comment is racist or xenophobic.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
personally thought the paedo thing was funny - and it was quite specific in NOT being applied to anyone here
sorry you weren't able to understand the concept (insert Oirish joke here)
consistently slating the French, as has happened on here a lot recently, does offend me slightly
what offends me is not the racism but the unbelievable stupidity of alleged Gooners posting that BS
Vieira, Pires, Wenger and Henry are all-time Arsenal greats. Please think before slagging them all off.
One thing that def doesn't offend me is 'Superfan' - I just read it as tacit acceptance of my superiority
I won the lottery of life, Islington born and bred, it's just a bit of luck, doesn't make me any better than you foreign fans
(its my spectacular intellect and dazzling good looks that do that
)

Don't know enough about either keeper but surely Adler would be a better choice given that he is more experienced and that experience is a huge need for us ?

if we want to keep hold of Szceczza (IMO we should) then older makes more sense...
