SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Buy both Remy and Bony and stop messing around.

Remy is Arshavin's replacement, Bony is the striker we do not have.
Jovetic can (hopefully) replace Gervinho.

Buy one top notch striker for say 40million or keep buying shit ones for 10-12million a pop?

Gervinho arshavin giroud pod are all decent on there day (that's being massively kind) but for once, can we not just buy a decent fucking player who knows where the goal is?

I know Sol and Lehmann returned for a second spell but this would be pushing it even for Wenger!

I am just thinking out loud here, so if it sounds like shit, do let me know :rubchin:

Fergie has moved to a nursing home, does Wenger, and other managers, think that because a major challenge has gone, that they will not need to spend big anyway anymore. Moyes will not be able to keep Utd at the dizzy heights that SAF did, so transfer targets, budgets, do not need to be quite so ambitious as before.

Interesting thought, but our club in particular have decided that they will play by their own 'self-sustainable' rules even if it precludes us from competing so I don't think it will have any impact on us. Plus we're still miles off United even with Ferguson gone so not like we could ease up anyway.

As for the likes of Citeh and Chelsea it's hard to say - such a precious opening may even persuade them to go for broke as next season will be massive - if one (or both) manage to best United in the league and they don't win a cup or at least make CL semis/probably final then the pressure and doubt will both intensify there. Tbh it's quite difficult to draw any rhyme or reason from the spending patterns and policies of those two clubs, but it's not beyond reasonable contemplation that Citeh will buy a Cavani or Falcao plus one or two other quality players, and that Mourinho will turn Chelsea back into a real force.
