Well it wouldn't be difficult would it ,perhaps if he tries really really hard he can improve to being mediocre which will put him in line with majority of the current squad.
I don't mind giroud, i dont know how many goals he scored is it 17? and he wasn't always in the starting 11 and obv his suspension didn't help.. there is nothing wrong in sticking a big lump upfront in my opinion, his movement off the ball is quite good, you cant criticise someone that much for missing chances..all the best strikers in the world miss chances! its a skill in itself to get youreself in the position i reckon, and besides we've been missing a plan b for years and i think he's helped us solve that.

Still need another striker though!
Of course you can. He earns phenomenal amounts of money to score goals, why should he be immune from criticism for missing chances? :? :? :? Are we also prevented from criticising our goalkeepers for costing us goals if their footwork got them into the right position in the first place? Or from criticising our midfielders for giving the ball away all day if they covered a lot of ground?

And where is this Plan B you talk of? We're as one-dimensional as we've ever been. We haven't adapted the system whatsoever and still require the striker to shoulder a phenomenal amount of all-round responsibility - Giroud isn't capable, van Persie was. Besides, despite the relative physiques van Persie was twice the hold-up player Giroud could ever hope to be.
Thats why van persie was bought for twice as much, and is on twice as much money.....i think girouds done quite well, thats all im going to say...WENGER sold VAN PERSIE and brought GIROUD! yes, we all know van persie is a different class to giroud, so why the hell do we expect giroud to be anywhere near as good? :?

The plan B im talking of is that hes the best header of the ball we've had up front for donkeys years so we're much more of a threat in the air.

17 goals form 33 starts, isn't bad. Also 10 assists...don't care what anyone says, because his STATS dont look to shabby to me.
Less league goals than Richie Lambert and Adam Le Fondre. He's a centre forward for Arsenal FFS.I expect him to score more league goals than these two in struggling sides

Here's a stat no none can defend.ONE away league goal

Ramsey is average but his performances toward the end of season were impressive. Thing is he is all effort and hasn't got a great deal in his locker. He isn't quick, particularly skillful. He has no creative eye. He is average Aaron.

Lambert and le fondre have scored more than aguero and rooney though too.

if you want to start comparing..

Aguero 30 starts.. 12 goals 2 assists
Rooney 27 starts...12 goals 10 assists
Giroud 33 starts..17 goals 10 assists

has he done that bad considering rooney and aguero are different class to him? i think not.

I have copied below my post from 7 pages back..... I cannot believe this debate is still ongoing.

Ok here we go, just a quick look at goals he scored and the importance of those goals.

Goals by le Twat.

Giroud opened the scoring in the 6-1 win against mighty Coventry City in the CoC.
If memory serves he then missed a sitter in stoppage time versus the Chavs which we lost 2-1.
Scored the equaliser against wet sham got us back in the game won it 3-1.
Scored the 3rd in the 12 goal CoC thriller against reading.
2nd away at Schalke04 in a 2-2 draw.
Got the opener and equaliser in the 3-3 game against Fulham.
Scored the 3rd in the 5-2 route of the spuds. ( 4 in 3 )
The 5th and 6th from the bench in the 7-3 win over Newcastle.
Scored the 2nd and the 5th against wet sham in our 5-1 win.
1st and 2nd againsy B&HA in the FA Cup 3-2 win.
Giroud scored our first versus Liverpool when 2 down going on to draw 2-2.
Scored the 1st against Bayern away in a 2-0 win.
Got the 3rd in our 4-1 win over Reading.
scored the 2nd in our 3-1 win over Norwich.

Now here's a list of match changing goals.
Scorers in 1-0 wins.
Fulham, Mertesacker.
Sunderland, Cazorla.
Stoke, Podolski
Swansea, Wilshere.
Wigan, Arteta.
QPR, Arteta.
In addition Koscielny got the equaliser in the 1-1 with Man City.

As you can see Giroud is found wanting against the big clubs and/or the big matches.... don't forget there was no pressure in the Bayern game as we were not given a cat in hells chance of pulling off a win.
Another interesting stat......
Giroud with Podolski in the team........ 15 games 11 goals. Giroud without Podolski....... 15 games, 6 goals.

Hopefully that will show the few on here still championing Le twat, that he really isn't that good and although he has scored 17 goals a lot of them were scored in pretty much low pressure situations. When we have badly needed a goal he definitely does not step up to the plate.
We need a striker who scores important goals, game changing goals...... Giroud is not that player
.

If he was a cricketer he would be considered a flat track bully..... nothing more! :banghead:

Flat track bully? Fuck me he's the equivalent of Graeme Hick.......its all very well knocking Zimbabwe's pie chuckers out of the ground Olivier but when Curtly and his pals are in town you're like a rabbit in the headlights

I expect him to build upon his 17 ever so important goals with a brace against Palace, the 4th against Pacos de Ferreira and a penalty against Plymouth in the Capital One

HE'S ABSOLUTELY FUCKING SHIT AND IT WAS THERE FOR ALL TO SEE FROM WEEK ONE........NO PACE, NO STRENGTH, ALWAYS OFF BALANCE, THE GRACE OF A PREGNANT ELEPHANT WITH A TOUCH TO MATCH AND A FIFTY PENCE HEAD :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Meanwhile on another thread people are debating the 'crock' and 'has been' that is David Villa ???!! Yes, lets keep this useless fucking lump of dump instead with Gervinho and the recalled Billy Big Bollocks and Joel Campbell

he's scored and set up plenty with his head, can't imagine that many players have had 12+ headed goal seasons in the history of our league...

googled it - found this: http://www.sos1878.co.uk/everton-news/c ... er-league/

Good return for his first season in English football.
Plenty of goals and plenty of assists.

Oh and by the way, please remember that before some 'facist' type decided to change the title of this thread, which was completely out of order, the original purpose of this thread was to compare the early parts of the careers of Giroud with Alan Smith's, who went on to become an Arsenal legend. And the fact is that Giroud's first season has been better.

OLIVIER GIROUD insists he is the man to fire Arsenal into title contention next season.
The Frenchman, 26, had a mixed first term in England after his £12million arrival from Montpellier — taking six games to get off the mark.

But he ended up with a respectable tally of 17 goals and he now cannot wait to get going again in August.

Giroud believes both he and his Gunners team-mates will be much improved next season.

He said: “I scored 17 goals in all competitions and gave 10 assists which, for a first season in England, is good. I am happy with the stats.

“However, I know I can do better and there is a lot of room for improvement.

“That’s why I’m already looking forward to next season. It is a massively important season with a lot of challenges.

“I want to really establish myself with Arsenal and make a name for myself here.

“If we start better than we did this season, I know that we will compete for the title next year because we are used to playing together now and have improved as a team.”

Giroud copped it from all angles after his early-season flop — especially with ex-Arsenal hitman Robin van Persie banging in the goals immediately for Manchester United.

But he insists he always backed himself to come good at the Emirates.

Giroud added: “The Press has been tough on me at times but it’s normal. It’s part of the game.

“It’s been a tiring season as it was totally different to what I experienced before.

“It was my first taste of Champions League football, the first time I was playing with no winter break and obviously the pace and rhythm of the game is different here.

“The fact that I didn’t score straight away in my Arsenal career was not too bad. It made me work even harder, focused even more until finally it came at West Ham.

“I was never worried because any striker goes through times where you score less, where you make the wrong choices.

“I never said I wanted to replace Robin. He needed a few seasons to really be at his best here.

“I hope that as early as my second season, I can play week in week out and keep scoring regularly because it’s key for a striker.”

++++

Heaven help us if he scrapes together 20 goals against he mediocre shite from the relegation zone, Capital One cannon fodder and the odd goal here and there when we've already stuck away four or five. He'll be demanding a move to Barca to meet his ambitions soon.....
