Lads I've been to Moscow twice in the last five years, and I can't figure out if its the best City I've been to, or the worst!

It's a VERY strange place indeed, and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!

I'd go again though. Image Image

cant understand why on earth fifa or eufa would think any of the eastern block countrys are suitable for a major event like this, and poland gets euro 12 wtf its world renound for its holigan problems. these places are disgusting in terms of random violence 2ward inocent people, and as for the corruption in the forces its just a fooking joke.

im under no ilusions that london is crime free but c'mon no where near the eastern block

It raises an interesting issue though...

Surely Juve and Milan fans must have found it a little bizzare having to travel to Manchester for the final in 2003 or 4... The Stadio Olimpico would have been perfect.

Should UEFA consider having a ''reserve'' location - to be used only in cases where the 2 finalists come from the same country?

Logistically difficult, but not impossible, and something that could be clarifed by the quarters or semis, most years... EG, this year, they could have announced Wembley as a reserve location on the same day the quarter final draw was done.

There was once a suggestion in World Soccer magazine that the final should have a permanent venue. Somewhere in central Europe like France, Belgium and Switzerland. The stadium would be especially built for the Champions League. Would have a big capacity, and would be easy to get to. It sounded like a good idea to say the truth.

I hope you are trying to be ironic. Because, if not, you need to travel a whole lot more, mate.

London is not dangerous at all compared to some cities. Accepted, like all big cities, there are areas you will get hurt/robbed/raped/killed if you go in at the wrong time (even Dublin! ). But London ain't got shit on places like Moscow, Cairo, Capetown, Washington, Rio, Johannesburgh, Kingston or Mexico City. Mexico City alone averages 15000 (FIFTEEN THOUSAND :!:  ) murders every year... Jaysus.

I'm not including obvious places like the Congo, Iraq, Afghanistan or the Ivory Coast where war, civil war, terrorism etc are the main problem.

London dangerous? Pah!

No, I wasn't ironic. I've been to Moscow but didn't find it dangerous. I am not about to travel into danger spots where I might get killed as I am 17. London's stabbings are enough for me

Ok Burnsy, you're wrong! Russia is not a continent (the only one-country continent is Australia). The Ural Mountains, which are inside Russia, mark the division between Europe and Asia. I think most Russians live west of the Urals and are therefore European. And Moscow is the biggest city in Europe by population (around 10million).

Anyway, in football terms, Russia is a UEFA member and so the whole of it is "European" for the purposes of football, as Turkey also is.
The continents are either six or seven in number depending on your opinion:

Europe
Africa
Asia
The Americas
Antartica
Oceana (Australia, New Zealand and a load of Pacific Islands)

Some split the Americas into North and South America to make seven.

I think the Russian authorities will swamp Moscow with Police and Army for the final, they will not want to be seen as dangerous with the media of the world looking at them.

It's arguable whether there is a continent called "Oceania". It is a geopolitical entity, but it is not a physical entity. Australia on its own is a continental land-mass, the various islands being spearate from it (like Britain and Ireland are from continental Europe). In fact, unlike Britain and Ireland in relation to continental Europe, New Zealand and many of the South Pacific islands aren't even on the same continental shelf as Australia.

But in geopolitical terms, you're right!

Yeah, it's an imprecise geopgraphy!

We could use football continents, in which case the Caribbean is linked to North America.

Stop using 'Lawyerish' Spiel to elucidate yuor points 26may.

Australasia is a term used by the United Kingdom, and her (dwindling) colonies.

'Oceania', in Greek, (who actually named this CONTINENT first) is called , (phonetically) , O-GEE-A-NEE.

Shakespeare said something about lawyers....What was it again ??? Image
