Yes it is early. I was responding to his question and the point is that we're not that far into it. Liverpool signed players this week. Who have United added in big name terms? I'm not defending it, I'm just saying that I'm not yet worried.Early???? Liverpool, City and Chelsea have all made big signings this summer already. Even United have added to their squad.
Its now the end of June and we have signed.............................................no one.
Deja Vu??????
SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Dont honestly think they can afford Tevez - they are going to try to please the fans by signing him. Last summer they wanted to sign a "name" ......and ended up with Bendtner. Their fans were not happy with that for obvious reasons!augie wrote:kiwomya wrote:Tevez is apparently on 200K at City. Even with a pay cut how on earth does anyone realistically think Arsenal would stand a chance? more to the point why would you want Arsenal to?!
If we had anything in the region of 140K/150K a week to throw at someone I would certainly not want it spent on a 29 year old toe rag like that. Someone else said it earlier, he was a disgrace for walking out of City for those 5 or 6 months. It was only because his contract was so big that CIty couldn't shift him last summer.
So you think juve are in a position to offer him big wages ? Personally I doubt that they would be able to match what we could pay them so this might not be a suitable deal to either side but wages should not be the reason why it isnt a runner
It's 2013 and it's almost entriely motivated by money - especially for someone like Tevez.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I got slated yesterday for banging on about why we haven't signed Higgy yet,the familiar pattern is repeating itself, lets see who weve signed come the end of july,my post might not seem so irrational then, lets fucking hope not thoughrigsby wrote:Yes it is early. Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I don't think we should be having a go at our club because we're behind the Victims in signing players. I suspect that if AW had signed any of the players that they've signed we would be distinctly underwhelmed.
I think the Chavs have got a decent player in Schurrle, but Citeh have paid megabucks for someone who barely gets a look in with Brazil and Manure are very quiet.
The window isn't open yet and if we've got Higuain lined up for July 1st I'll be happy (particularly if Cesar and Jovetic or similar follow).

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
HAVE WE FUCKING SIGNED ANYONE YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!!!!
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Still stand by what I said all along - there will be no Higuain, no Rooney, no Fellaini, no Villa
Sanogo and Mendy on the other hand - a bloke from Ligue Deux and a 19 year old from Le Havre. Welcome aboard
Hope the season tickets have all been renewed now
Just got one of those nasty gold corporate hospitality brochures.........at least I've done my bit for recycling this week

I bet you were one of kids who sat in the back of the car, kicking his parents seat yelling "are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we..."

I reckon he will.
I mean, 20m is becoming less and less, it doesn't even sound impressive anymore.
remember when we sold overmars to barca for around that fee? it was fucking massive, and he was a world class player.

I'm not an AKB but bashing Wenger over Tevez is stupid. We don't even know whether we went in for him or not. For all we know, Tevez didn't want to join us because he wants to leave England or because he wants to win trophies and thinks that he has a better chance of doing that in a club that has won two titles in a row rather than in one that has won nothing for eight years.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Don't think anybody is actually bashing wenker over tevez as such......what some of US are suggesting is that tevez at that price would have been a good deal for our club
None of us actually expected AFC to try and sign him (he certainly wouldn't conform to wenger's idea's of how players behave
) but he would have brought endless supply of energy plus no small amount of actual (as opposed to imaginary) courage

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
The fact that he would never have come is an equally big obstacle as the fact we'd never have bid for him. Just a no-goer on all fronts.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Higuain won't be joining. City are selling all their strikers and will be in to nick him away any day now
Still keep up the negotiations Dick. I'm sure we've been very close for a month now before we move on to the lad from St Etienne

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I would just like to point out to everyone that keeps reiterating IT'S ONLY JUNE that just because the transfer window does not officially open til 1st July, that does not preclude us from signing players before the window opens. You can bet your bottom dollar that Man shitty will replace Tevez with a top class striker, Loserpool will probably lose Suarez and the scum need at least one if not two strikers. So it's not only us in the market for a striker or two, and don't forget we have been caught out before because of Wankers dithering or a reluctance on the clubs part.
Gazidis claimed the clubs target players were willing to sign irrespective of our champions league qualification, if that is the case it poses the question why are we once again dragging our feet?
I know I'm a cynical fan but the last few seasons tribulations in the transfer market have not helped, it's very easy to sit at a meeting and say all the right words but its another thing completely turning those words into actions.
