Totally bored of this shit now - he took steroids, he cheated and eventually he got caught, was suspended and lost all of his titles so why are we having to put up with all this bullshit drama ? I have always felt that a guy would have to be on some drugs to peddle a bike for 100km over the french mountains every day for a fortnight and I am damn sure there are far more than him on illegal substances

5 of the 8 fastest men of all time have now been caught doping, and there are very strong suspicions that another (Maurice Greene) did so. Jamaican women Fraser-Pryce and Campbell-Brown have 5 Olympic golds between them and have both been banned for drugs use.

I say make it a free for all - take what you want (most do anyway).
Picture the next Olympic 100m final - 8 behemoths with massive brows, hulking muscles, nothing left downstairs and green stuff oozing from their bloodshot eyes - the gun goes and in 6.5 seconds they all hit the line together and explode - now THAT I would pay to see!!

doesn't surprise me a bit. Bolt is a cut above and they've had to do something to catch him. asafa powell especially used to be #1 but has been overtaken by bolt and yohan blake and that would have been difficult to take.

the fact another jamaican sprinter was caught isn't a good sign for jamaican athletics in its entirety either.

It's the norm now that if someone betters themselves you automatically assume drugs, it's sad but I think that James Dasaolu is doing something...can't drop your PB 4 times in the space of 3 months without juice...

Blake pulls out of the world championship due to a previously unreported injury 3 days after the Jamaican team drug bust!!!! Coincidence? Hmmmm

If Bolt is ever caught that'll be the end of athletics as a reasonably main stream sport

Obviously the confidence in athletics would be shattered, but how that's reflected in participation and viewing figures, I'm not so sure.

In fact, I think people now more than ever secretly enjoy a bit of drama and scandal, so I think regardless of who cheats, sport will find a way of moving on: and becoming (or even witnessing) the fastest person in history is always going to catch the imagination, I reckon.

On a similar note, I'd like to know how much the Lance Armstrong scandal has affected viewing figures of the Tour de France, both on tv and on the tour. My guess would be not much... in fact, I'd imagine the lack of a French champion is more of an issue, whereas viewing figures must surely have improved in the UK with Sir Bradley's efforts last year? - if so, then that suggests the scandal is neither here not there, and people will carry on watching as long as they have someone to support.

Maybe that's what it needs - a French champion (not happened since 1985 :o )
