It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Probably a few too many on a pitch that has misbehaved quite a lot this morning, if Swanny turns up (and he'll definitely fancy it after his batting) he can win this game for us on his own. Aussies will make a decent fist of it and I'm sure they'll have at least one substantial partnership at the top/middle of the order but England should definitely defend this.
120-1 at tea... you still confident?!
Luckily I was at the gym so don't have to answer that
To be fair like I said Australia will always make it pretty competitive - if they were chasing 399 they'd probably have stacked on a few more before collapsing, just like if they were chasing 220 they wouldn't have rattled along to 120-1 at tea.
It's what you get from Broad - looks like an average bowler but then once or twice in a series he'll rip through the opposition with a devastating spell of bowling.
I can't work Broad out. I don't even think he can at times! He can bowl some absolute filth, but when on form he's devastating. He's a "top of off" bowler really but when he loses his radar he can lose the plot big style
Poor glovework from Prior but woeful throw from Bairstow. I can only think that he wanted the glory of a direct hit run out to seal the Ashes because he could have lobbed it softly underarm to Prior and the bloke would still have been yards out.
A strange series. There is not an awful lot between the sides, we've got a better spinner and have been more solid in the middle order but its quite strange to see an England side having the mental edge over Australia. Long may it continue!
The winter series down under should be fascinating

Agreed. There's been some good entertainment but for me it'll always be exceptionally difficult to better the 2005 series as the quality was immense. Today was a great day and it was full of twists and turns but it just feels like the fact you know whoever's batting will collapse once or twice takes away the edge a bit when it happens. A bit like how when a team comes from behind 2 goals down with great attacking football once or twice in a season it's great entertainment, but when United gift leads every other week and then bring 4 strikers and 3 wingers on and almost invariably get 3 points it's a bit boring (no matter what Sky say).
Here England's two most reliable batsmen have both had very poor series, Root's only got in once, Bairstow isn't good enough, Prior has had a stinker with the bat and the lower order/tail would rather try and smash the ball around all the time than bat properly, which 10 upwards are capable of. Yet they'll probably win the series 4-0.
England are by far the better side in almost all categories, even if some of them haven't been firing. Joe Root - yep, bit of a flop aside from the 180 at Lords -still a 180 . They are nowhere near the great Australian side of the recent past and Australia are close to the average England sides of the past, so the gap is certainly not what it was when Australia were thumping us.

Yep.
Essentially England are a porn star with a 10 inch dick. But who is currently impotent.
Australia are a regular man with a 5 inch dick. (DB10Gooner)
A 10 inch limp cock still fucks better than a 5 incher at full attention.
Bresnan out of the series with a stress fracture of the back, and tbh it looks dodgy for the return in Aus and even his England career. I know he isn't everyone's cup of tea but he always give his all and I feel he always does a good job, however unremarkable he may be. Feel gutted for the bloke.
Anyway, Tremlett should come in now. The Oval pitch will suit him and he plays his county cricket there, as should the pitches down under

definitely gutted for him. Agree with you that he always gives his all. Just watching him run in makes you think he means it.
Oval game can't come soon enough and also agree re Tremlett.
