SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think in most cases it is Arsenal waiting until Champions League group stage qualification until money is spent.

But there might be one or two players who want that to happen also before they sign, it is quite possible, for two reasons.
These days players' sponsors can exert a lot of influence, and they want their brands showcased in the top competitions where possible.
Plus if those players' agents know of interest from elsewhere, they might hold out for the best wages until right at the end of the transfer window?
And the clubs that qualify for the group stages would probably be best prepared to pay those higher wages

For me he is no better than arteta - yes he is younger but I don't think he has the positional discipline that arteta has had to take on (due to the c.unt in charge not signing a proper DM  )

Unfortunately I think this is the DM that Wenger has in mind. Very much in the Arteta role of a deep playmaker.

Also a bit perplexed as to why we've gone in for creative midfielder where there are glaring deficiencies in all other areas of the team

And they're talking £35m for Williams and Michu, so imagine spending £50m+ on Michu, Williams and Cabaye! it's the stuff dreams are made of! :D

As seen on Twitter this afternoon :

"Apparently the deal hinges on Cabaye agreeing to change his first name to 'Pani' "

Would not be a bad signing but as others have said, not exactly a priority.
He is the sort of player you buy when the squad is fairly well stocked, and you want to add an extra player to keep the bench competitive ahead of a busy season.
Sort of a Spurs type signing.

He is better than Ramsey, but not massively so.
Not as good as Arteta in my opinion.

Anything over £10M I think we would have been better off to have given Aneke a go.

To be fair, I don't know much about Cabaye so no idea if he'd be a good signing or not.

He's always being linked with United and PSG, and is a French international, so presumably he's fairly good? :? but I've no idea.
